Tottenham has been linked with a move for Napoli centre back, Nikola Maksimovic, as he enters the final few months of his current deal.
The Lilywhites had been keen to sign a new centre-back for much of the last transfer window and closed it with the transfer of Joe Rodon from Swansea.
Jose Mourinho is continually looking to strengthen his squad, and he already has an eye on next season.
Spazio Napoli says that the Lilywhites are among the teams that want the defender.
He has played 8 league games for Napoli this season and remains an important option for them.
But he isn’t looking to extend his stay with Gennaro Gattuso’s team, and that has opened the door for a move to Tottenham.
The Lilywhites are interested in signing him this month to avoid the queue of teams looking to land him for free.
However, Napoli might not agree to a sale in the next few days as they look to keep up their title challenge and fight to make a Champions League return.
Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez and Joe Rodon are all options available to Mourinho now, but Dier has been the only ever-present in the team.
Can he defend a cross? If so bring him in
8 games out of 18 for a Napoli side sitting 6th hardly fills me with much confidence he’s an improvement on Sanchez, who will presumably be the one under threat here.
