Report: Tottenham transfer target has a verbal agreement with Barcelona

By Eddie Razo -

Over the past few months, Tottenham Hotspur has been linked to AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessié. Recent reports suggest that the north London club had reached a deal to land the 25-year-old, but Kessié shot that down to hold onto his leverage.

With his contract expiring in June, Kessié can sign a pre-contract for next season, and it appears as though he has made a decision regarding his future. According to Italian football journalist Gianluigi Longari, the AC Milan midfielder has a verbal agreement with FC Barcelona.

Longari states that there’s no signature yet from Kessié on a pre-contract, but the Spanish are working out the details to present to the Ivory Coast international.

Kessié having a verbal agreement with Barcelona puts a dent in Tottenham’s plans to continue to rebuild their squad.

The AC Milan midfielder would’ve been a good building block for Spurs’ midfield. The Premier League club will need to go back to the drawing board to find another midfielder target.

Just looked at the 2005-06 squad and if you picked a first eleven out of that lot, I think the only players from the current team that could get in it are Lloris and Kane.

Players obviously know the score about what goes on at other clubs. The word on Tottenham is obviously out there.

If you want to watch your career fall off a cliff join Spurs, if you are serious about winning things go somewhere else.

You know Eddie it’s a waste of time, but do the rounds of the Tottenham blogs on YouTube and the levels of delusion among fans about possible signings is unbelievable.

Delusional fans, it’s actually sad when you hear Spurs fans seriously thinking that Kessie, Vlahovic, Lautaro Martinez, Skriniar are coming.

I think it’s worse than that. I’d take Martin Jol’s team from 05/ 06 over this team. Jol’s best starting 11 beats the current starting 11 all day long. We are back to where we were when ENIC and Levy took over in my opinion.

Just another team.

Absolutely. Makes one think that they both just overachieved despite Levy and created the headache of expectation from the fans. That has well and truly been doused now and will likely be completely extinguished if Conte quits, as is now expected by many in the game.

To a certain extent we have rolled back to that era though. During the Poch era, we were in the top four and had a strong team with genuine class players like Son and Kane firing on all cylinders. Because Levy didn’t build on that, we now find ourselves having slipped back trying to attract players to play for a mediocre side at a club whose leadership has shown itself unwilling to go that extra mile to win stuff. Inevitably, the sort of players we want to acquire are going to find the clubs that are above us a more attractive draw. If you look at the Chelsea side from Sunday, I’d say the only players we had on the pitch that could have been included in it that wouldn’t have had a negative effect, were Kane and Lloris. Against that background, the only players likely to join us, rather than Chelsea, or say City or Liverpool, are those frightened they wouldn’t get game time there. Basically, Levy and his compadres has undone all the progress we made between the Redknapp and Poch eras.

Can’t imagine why he’d rather go to Barca instead of enic fc?

This was announced in Spain on 1st January – yet Kessie’s name keeps appearing in chat rooms. My guess is we will sign nobody and Conte will walk. I hope I am wrong.

Levy still thinks we are in the Redknapp era when we were still trying to break into the top 4 and were always around the top8. Bargain and free deals aint gonna hack it.

Another one bites the dust. Another nail in Levy’s coffin hopefully.

Wow another alleged transfer target gets away from us.Who wouldathunkit.

We all know it’s a waste of time to get excited by possible transfers, but we can’t help it.It’s the hope that kills you and it will never change under Levy/ENIC.
