Report: Tottenham midfielder is hopeful for a transfer during the January window

By Eddie Razo -

Tanguy Ndombele has not lived up to the transfer fee Tottenham Hotspur paid for in 2019. The supporters voiced their displeasure after his latest performance during Sunday’s FA Cup match against Morecambe.

Spurs didn’t score until after the 25-year-old left the pitch, which wasn’t a good look for Ndombele. The rift between the player and supporters appears to be too large to overcome, which is why The Athletic reports that the France international hopes to depart this January transfer window.

According to the report, there is a sense among sources close to Ndombele and the north London club that a departure would be best for all parties. Furthermore, The Athletic adds that the midfielder wanted to leave this past summer.

Tottenham is willing to accommodate the player’s wish to leave as they seek a buyer. However, finances are a significant hurdle to reaching a loan or sale. Ndombele makes £200,000 a week, and finding a club willing to take on that financial responsibility won’t be easy.

Also, Ndombele has a lengthy contract that doesn’t expire until the summer of 2025.

Do the Maths. After 3years he would earn +/- 31 Mill Pounds BT. After Tax he probably takes home 60% (over this period) which is +/- 18 Mil Pounds.

If he retires at 65 (40 years time) and he lives lives for another 10 years thereafter, then you looking at him having to live on roughly 360 000 pounds a year (or 30 000 pounds a month, about 27% of what he currently takes home every month ).

I think that 30 000 Pounds is what he currently spends monthly at NANDO’s. Just saying.

He has something over 3 three years left on a six year contract and is allegedly on £200K per week. In what world do you imagine that come the end of his contract, he would not have made enough money to sustain him when he retires?

If he refuses to join a club with a reduction in his salary, then banish him to train with the under 18’s. This will affect his France selection as well. If that means him sitting his contract out like Rhodes did then so be it.

He already has a record for being an unwilling and lazy player, so I doubt any football club would want to touch him once his contract has expired. Whatever monies he makes between now and then will not sustain him when he retires so he better start realizing that hard work will deliver the pay when it is most needed.

In business there is a saying FIFO which basically means First In First Out when it came to staff reductions during lean times. I preferred to call it Fit In or F@#$k Off to those that did not deliver.

I think the problem is they know they’re not up to it and their time is numbered. You’d think they’d elevate their game so that a half decent team came in for them. Most would be lucky to have Norwich interested

The length of the contract is staggering given there were a lot of misgivings around him prior to signing him. Another example of executive incompetence that would lead to a firing in other realm of business
