Report: Tottenham Hotspur at the top of the list to sign Barcelona’s Memphis Depay

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur began the process of improving their attack during the January transfer window when they added Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus FC. The 21-year-old has proved to be an excellent addition, but Spurs don’t want to stop there.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the arrival of Xavi Hernandez at FC Barcelona has put Memphis Depay, at the moment the top scorer in the squad with ten goals, in the role of a substitute rather the starter he was under previous manager Ronald Koeman.

The Spanish media outlet states that with Depay having one more year on his contract, some Premier League clubs, with Tottenham topping the list, are interested in signing him.

Depay signed a two-year deal, and a return to the England would allow for the 28-year-old to redeem himself after his failed stint with Manchester United. When it comes to the possible price, Transfermarkt puts the Dutch forward’s market value at £40-million.

Both Spurs and Barcelona have a working relationship after last summer’s Emerson Royal transfer, so a deal could occur in a couple of months.

Dunno what Depay would bring us of any note, is he much better than Bergwjin these days? Playing for Barca is no longer the accolade it once was…

Probably not a terrible idea, given the rivals for the spot

If we are to be honest, why would Spurs want to sign Troare. Where will he fit in, behind Kulu, just asking. Tying Memphis into the conversation since we are suppose to be signing him. He will play behind Son? We would need Stevie B and Lucas gone for any of those sigings to make sense. But why would we sign both or one ahead of signing a creative mid (I see a problem brewing with PEH as we cannot continue to run out 2 holding mids with Rodrigo penciled in) , and a second striker? Why would we waste our capital when we need a centerback and upgrade at right back. Left back for me Sessengnon fill the role, Davies covers and sell Reggie. We must be aggressive, Mr Levy, quick sale small or no profit, in selling the deadwood to balance the team. If we read most or all the articles on whom we are signing and who we should, or will sign there are no correlation to how they will affect the composition of the team if we do not move those on the books right now. I did not even mention Bryan Gil who can cover both wings and the #10 spot.

I’d like to see Bergwijn given a go at RWB.

the answer cannot be purchase Traore — and then convert him !
We have a probable conversion in our midst – Stevie Bergwin is almost there right now ….and technically better than Traore already . Obiously Adama got blistering pace but Bergwin not slow ………..and Iknow who I’d trust more for accurate passing .

Mentioning Emerson Royal took the edge of…not sure he has the right temperament.
