Report: Tottenham first in line to land AC Milan midfielder during January window

By Eddie Razo -

The January transfer window opens in a couple of days, and Tottenham Hotspur hopes to bolster its midfield this coming month. One of the targets that Spurs is linked to is AC Milan’s Franck Kessié.

Kessié’s contract expires in June, and he has yet to agree to a contract extension with the Serie A side. The Daily Express reports that Tottenham will be at the top of the list to land the 25-year-old.

According to the information provided by the English media outlet, Conte has earmarked Kessié as one of the first players that he desires during the next transfer window. The Miland midfielder can begin talks over a pre-contract that kicks in next season.

Milan has reportedly made a new contract proposal of around £5 million a year, but the former Atalanta player has rejected that. Despite the window opening soon, Conte has recently stated his focus isn’t on that for now and wants to prioritize helping improve the players he currently has at Spurs.

“Honestly, at this moment, I cannot answer that,” Conte said.

“Now, my focus is to work with the players to improve the situation. Then for sure we will have a meeting with the club to try understand if there is the possibility to improve the situation in terms of transfers.
