Tottenham Hotspur Steven Bergwijn winger wants out of the north London club as he hopes for more playing time leading to the FIFA World Cup later this year in Qatar.
Furthermore, Netherlands national team boss Louis van Gaal has advised the 24-year-old winger to head to Ajax. Despite having a player who desires to leave, transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano states that Spurs want around €30-million to let Bergwijn exit.
Ajax is working on it with an official bid, still waiting to agree with Tottenham for the winger. Nonetheless, the Dutch giants aren’t the only club eyeing the forward, as Romano states there’s interest from other sides but didn’t reveal any names.
However, Ajax has been pursuing Bergwijn since January, so they have the upper hand on this file, but if they want to land the forward this summer, they’ll have to up their bid to meet Spurs’ asking price.
Since arriving in north London in 2020, Bergwijn has appeared in 83 fixtures, scoring eight goals and recording ten assists.
Bet they’re struggling to give him away for free… A stick, a length of string with a carrot tied to the end should do the job. If this fails then replace carrot with a doughnut.
