Report: Tottenham approach former Arsenal man who Paratici is keen on signing

Reports have emerged that Tottenham’s director Fabio Paratici is keen on bringing Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny to the club.

However, it seems that the former Arsenal keeper is not interested in leaving Juventus anytime soon.

According to Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Football Italia), Szczesny was approached by Spurs and “immediately told no.”

The reports suggest that the player is happy at the Italian club and has been performing at his best ever since the return of manager Massimiliano Allegri.

Szczesny’s affiliation with Tottenham’s arch rivals Arsenal is another reason that makes this transfer move unlikely.

The Polish goalkeeper spent seven years with the Gunners, making 132 appearances for the North London club.

During his time with Arsenal, he experienced both highs and lows and was eventually loaned to Roma in his last two years at the club.

Szczesny joined Juventus in 2017 and has since established himself as a reliable option between the sticks.

For Tottenham, the search for a reliable goalkeeper. Age is catching up with Hugo Lloris who has made a number of mistakes this season leading directly to goals.

His performances has led to pundits harshly criticising him with the likes of Garth Crook suggesting that Spurs will not win anything with the Frenchman in goal.

He is currently out for the season with an injury and summer signing Fraser Forster has stepped up to replace him.
