Report: Cristian Romero suspension upheld; will be with Spurs on Tuesday

By Eddie Razo -

When the Argentina national team decided to call up Tottenham Hotspur central defender Cristian Romero, they did so knowing the 23-year-old was suspended for both FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures.

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) hoped to have him available for at least of the matches this window as the petition to have his suspension reduced; however, that will not be the case.

That appeal made by the AFA was rejected, and Football.London reports that Romero is now expected to be back at Hotspur Way on Tuesday and involved in training with his teammates.

Argentina is scheduled to face Ecuador to close out the qualifying round and was hoping to have the defender ready for this fixture. However, it has turned out to be a pointless trip for Romero to South America.

Nonetheless, it won’t happen, and now Romero will have to begin preparations to be in north London as Spurs face Newcastle United this coming Sunday.

Scaloni texted Romero, how about a short vacation home. Romero, that be great. Ok, you in the squad.

As predicted last week – why would it be overturned him and No Sho (except for Argentina) broke the law.
What a (insert your own word here)….ish move by the Argentinian FA.
