After crashing out in the FA Cup to Middlesbrough last week, Tottenham Hotspur didn’t allow the result to affect their top-four chances on Monday night against Everton FC. The Toffees are in a relegation battle, but that hasn’t stopped Spurs from dropping points as they did so versus Burnley a couple of weeks ago.
Nonetheless, manager Antonio Conte’s squad ensured they weren’t looking ahead to Manchester United this coming weekend. The north London club put five goals past Everton, with three of the goals coming in the first half.
After the match, Conte spoke with the media at his news conference, and he applauded the team’s performance. Furthermore, the Italian tactician stated that the things they are working on during training sessions showed against Everton.
“For sure it was a really good performance tonight,” Conte said, per Football.London. “We scored five goals, we created chances to improve the final result. Many, many positive aspects and I have seen with my staff that when we have more days, more time to prepare for the game, to play against us is difficult for everybody. The problem when we have to prepare to play in two or three days is not simple.”
“Don’t forget that with this team, I didn’t start the season. I haven’t had the possibility to have one month to work with the team in pre-season and try to work and instil my idea of football. We did this playing games, important games for three points. I think that I am seeing my work. I am seeing what we are working on every day, what we are trying in this situation where I’m trying to improve them.”
Tottenham can now focus on Manchester United, who occupies the fifth-place slot. The Red Devils have 47 points, and Spurs sit two away with 45, so a win at Old Trafford could see them leap over them and make it one less team they have to hurdle.

After that performance i can imagine Levy sideling up to Conte again and saying ‘There,I told you they would come good,no need to go wasting my money on new players.Unless they’re cheap punts of course who won’t be ready for first team duty, but I can see a profit in.”
Conte has to work out how we deal with a team that puts men behind the ball, that’s when we struggle, however utd will be as open as the grand canyon.
Bentancur is a class above Winks in the middle, the difference it makes having someone in the middle that pops it around at pace and with vision is staggering.
We were a joy to watch. That Doherty fella has a great future (did I really say that)
