Over the last few days, one of the transfer news buzzing around English media outlets is the report that Tottenham Hotspur is discussing with Richarlison regarding moving away from Everton.
Information from Brazil would suggest that the talks between the player and the north London side are advanced, with the striker already discussing a possible contract with Spurs.
However, talkSPORT’s Alex Crook provided an update on rumors linking Richarlison to Tottenham and didn’t buy into the reports that the two sides are in advanced discussions.
“I don’t think it’s that advanced. I think the Richarlison is on Tottenham’s list of potential arrivals this summer, but only at the right price,” Cook said. “I don’t necessarily think that’s a key area for Tottenham. I’ve mentioned the need for a center-back. I think that’s Antonio Conte’s priority.”
“You look at the forward end of the pitch; Kane is going to play every minute that you can. You can’t leave out Son. Kulusevski had a fantastic end of the season. They’ve got Perišić now as well, so it’s difficult to see where Richarlison really fits in.”
Tottenham has been linked to several forwards as they look for scoring depth behind their two star players in Harry Kane and Son Heung-min. Furthermore, with UEFA Champions League football and the task of ending their trophy drought this upcoming season.
As a result, they need some support as they can’t rely on Kane and Son to carry their attack through these competitions. Spurs began the process of adding some depth when they brought in Dejan Kulusevski in January, so they’re hoping to continue addressing the issue.

Yes. Take someone like Dier for example. He has improved immensely under Conte, much more one-touch, quick outlets, less balls up the middle, better positioning. But how much better can he get? Does he have the requisite competence?
Yes, it’s like he sees us on the level of Southampton or Palace…
You used to have 4 forwards in a squad and only 2 played at once
I don’t think it’s a worry for Conte how they’ve played in the past, more about can they do what he wants. Remember Conte did say he didn’t know if NDombele was a midfielder.
Best for of defence is attack. We’ve had games where there has been no real threat.
Though I don’t think it’s an either or, both areas need improving
2nd striker is important to Contes flexibility in tactics. How often has he mentioned he wants Kane as a 9.
2nd striker gives us 2 up top option, that’s not withstanding games when we have to rest Kane.
Conte would get more out of Richarlison.
Plus additional pressure for starting spots can only make players better.
I’d worry about the defense first, WTF are they waiting for? Bremer and Romagnoli/Torres/Gvardiol/Bastoni should’ve been signed by now. I’m already running out of patience. You don’t see L’pool mess about when they want a player
Poor quality punditry from Crook if he really can’t see where he’d fit in now we have Champions Leage and the new 5 subs rules. It’s all about depth. Strong depth. Not weak second class depth. We currently have NO depth.
Well said. Danny Ings, ideal because he can play with striker, but he think too much of himself being the lone guy up top. Too man injuries. I will take Richarlison over Toney even with the price. Just an observation. If we look around the league for someone available now, Jesus is the only other to me. Bowen with Kulu here, no. That is how we ended up with 6 holding mids. Keep buying flavors.
We can talk football, man. Fixing the unbalanced within the team starts with getting competence (setting the bar very low), at each position which also require shipping players out not to turn a profit, but build the squad decimated by years of neglect. Also, trusting that the right players are being brought in for Conte to implement his system, importantly.
Isn’t about time we had a decent back up striker? How many seasons must we have this ongoing debate? Players are now reaching 60 odd games per season. Kane should be used more sparingly, he always looks one step away from a serious injury. I’m not a great fan of Richarlison. I would have thought that Calvert-Lewin would be more of a useful addition but I would really like Bowen who is very highly rated by Klopp. I also thought that the Ukrainian sub Mudryk looked an outstanding prospect for a punt!
How shocked do you think Levy was when Conte actually got is into the CL and he had to pay him the bonus?
Nearly all Brazilian players dive. Just like how all the Argies go around slide tackling anyone in sight. It’s in the blood. It’s really funny when Brazil play Argentina. Diving and slide tackling. But it’s hard to slide tackle guys sometimes when they’re already on the ground.
I agree. Ideally we need players that provide something different to what we have. Richarlison is like a worse version of Sonny. St. Maximin would be great. A true pivot striker like Llorente aspired to be would also be nice. Someone that can play up top by himself or with Harry.
I personally would build the team around Erikson…..I remember Pleat doing that with Hoddle in the famous 4 5 1 team in the 80’s
Erikson was the player who made us tick under Poch, not just his passing, but his clever way of getting us goals.
I remember more how much we missed him when he never played
I know his last few months weren’t great, however when we were riding high under Poch he was the one player I feared losing the most……
and we never really replaced him….Bruno Fernandes was the obvious player but surprise surprise we wouldn’t pay the fee…..and offered Sporting £45 million + £10 million when we won the league….and a further £10 million when we won the champions league……surprislngly they declined our offer
Which is why need decent back up..
Until we have enough players that have the technical ability to play one-touch fast moving football Conte will stay with the current 343 to mask the deficiencies.
Kane wanting to play is great- he’s a gamer. It’s up to Tony and the vaunted Spurs Sports Science team to make sure he rests when needed.
Great points. I feel like I was the only one last year saying give us tactical options, some complained about me in particular asking for a planB and maybe I know more that Conte. Anyway, when you have versatile Wingbacks, you can switch the formation without changing personnel when we play teams that pack the middle or sit deep. For example going 4 at the back with Davies moving out wide and Sessengnon to left mid was always there as an option. That was never used as a tactical change ,not plan B. We catching on that we are not going to get a striker with Kane plugging away game after game for 90 minutes. Something has to give. While I think Richarlison price is about $15m past the mark, he makes sense as a proven PL player. Call it $10-$15M policy for Kane. Also with the CL and the cups the second striker must be able to command starting status with or without Harry. This thing about his attitude is pure nonsense. He knows where the net is, big strong and nasty. Or we can go get nice and tidy for $15M.
Well said.
We definitely will be in for a striker, Conte will want one, I just hope it’s not this cheat.
Where do some of these reports come from, remember the ‘Sissoko to Everton’ rubbish.. When originated in another country on the other side of the world like Brazil, these rumours are tough to believe.
Conte seems to stick rigidly to his favoured 352 system. If any of the players linked to us are coming surely he would need to be more flexible. Can he do that?
Thats a great call , if Winksy happy it could work !!
And we must have a virtual second team on the bench , think the world is coming round to the idea that your “first eleven ” is rarely that these days , the number of matches involved , especially the current top clubs with having internationals in abundance “away every couple of months to far corners of the earth…………
Maybe Conte sees him as a better alternative to Kulu.As I understand it we haven’t paid his fee yet,so he would likely be the one more often on the bench.
I’m not a lover of Richarlison and although he tends to go to ground too easily,he is a game tryer and he does take a lot of stick from defenders. But he doesn’t get discouraged and scores his share of goals.
He could actually be a good signing and he doesn’t need to settle into the PL.Also Conte needs to tell Kane he won’t be playing 300 matches each season.
Kane wanting to play every bloody game is a problem..it has to end ..if he wants to extend his career ..anyone who is still being impressed by Kane lurching into 3 of the opposition defenders and giving the ball away needs their head testing..Tired of watching him play on empty ..Richarlison for all his faults has scored 1 in 3 playing for 2 poor teams.
Depends on the game. We shouldn’t just think about a 3 4 3 and our first choice starting eleven meaning no-one else would get a ‘look in’. Firstly there will be a LOT of matches and the ‘1st choice’ won’t play every game… and if we are playing a poorer quality team that ‘parks the bus’… Eriksen would be an ideal choice in one of the midfield slots, because he can create an opening. And… yeah.. Conte could go 5 3 2 for some tough matches and opt for Eriksen as one of the midfielders who can unlock the key counter-attacking pass. We won’t need Eriksen for every game… just certain games.
Bowen was a rare highlight from the current international break, no way Spammers are selling him. Toney is a less versatile forward – we can do better.
The idea of being “backup” when we only have one recognised striker and the potential to play 60 games + a world cup is ludicrous. Anyone coming in will get plenty of game time.
Anyway, I read elsewhere Everton are looking for £60m+ which is frankly ridiculous – however they will not find too many clubs with that sort of money to throw around on someone as “unglamourous” as this, and the player seems to have made up his mind to leave so I think it’s a buyers market for this lad.
£35m + Harry Winks and I think we’d all be delighted. Well I would be anyway!
Not sure if he starts, unless Antonio wants a very strong bench. Playing 3 4 3 does limit us to the type of player we can recruit.
There’s talk of Eriksen returning, but again where does he fit in? would need to go 3 5 2 to accommidate him…..but who drops out?
I cannot see Antonio reverting back to a 4 2 3 1
I would have thought that someone with proven scoring record would be back up for Harry or Sonny . Richarlison has not definitely filled that criteria , I believe Ings or Toney or even Bowen could be cheaper alternatives with a cv probably inadvance of the Brazilian.
Nonetheless , in Antonio I trust so until he gets it wrong………………… but are we believing everything we hear ??????? C O Y S !!!!!!!
