Pundit reckons top four is already set and Spurs can forget about it

By Bruce Grove -

Gary Neville reckons there is no chance of Tottenham making the top four after he claimed that the Champions League positions have already been set.

Spurs have had an inconsistent season that has pushed them out of the top four places currently.

They had started the campaign very well and were even top of the league table at some point.

However, their inconsistent season has robbed them of the chance to stay in the Champions League places and there are just a few games to go before this campaign ends.

The top four is currently occupied by Manchester City, Manchester United, Leicester City and Chelsea.

Neville believes they are the teams that will end the campaign in the UCL places and says the only change that would happen there is Chelsea leapfrogging Leicester to third place.

This means that Spurs can forget about a return to the European top club competition for the second consecutive season.

Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast, he said: “Leicester are the ones that I think you’d be most nervous about because they did blow up last season.

“They had a really difficult run-in. I don’t see West Ham catching Leicester. The teams below that are so inconsistent and seem to be all over the place.

“I’m not sure which one of them is capable of putting a run together.

“They’re capable of it, some of them, but I would think that Leicester this year would hang on and cement the fact that Brendan Rodgers has done a brilliant job two years on the bounce.

“Last year, they were so unlucky to miss out on the final day against Manchester United.

“This year, I think they’ll get in the top four. I think it’ll be Chelsea third and Leicester will be fourth.”

Correct and I agree that Chelsea who are currently on 51 Points can probably (Super Computer Predicts) pick up another 16 Points which would put them on 67 Points. So if Spurs beat Leicester (who would be on 68 Points) and end up on 69 Points then Chelsea could lose out.
It is all so unpredictable and the fight for Top 4 is so tight that even the proverbial “Tighter than a Duck’s Arse” also has a chance of finishing in the Top 4 🤔. 😃😃

Dusty I am confused by your rationale when given that the Foxes currently head Spurs by 11pts surely it’s Chelsea who are our closest challengers not Leicester??

Chelseas remaining fixtures are as follows:-

West Brom (H)
Palace (A)
Brighton (H)
West Ham (A)
Fulham (H)
Leicester (H)
Villa (A)

Back to confirm 1 missed fixture

Yes mate, it’s all to play for.. And the two cups.. I don’t care for negative sourpuss fans either.. They are irrelevant really.. What matters is the players are optimistic and believe… And get the job done.. Up the Yids.

So as of yesterday here are the remaining games for Leicester and Spurs:

Leicester………………………..Spurs

Mann. City (H)…………………Southhampton (H)
West Ham (A)………………….Aston Villa (A)
West Brom (H)…………………Newcastle (A)
Crtstal Palace (H)……………..Man. United (H)
Southampton (A)………………Everton (A)
Newcastle (H)…………………..Sheff. United (H)
Man United (A)…………………Leeds (A)
Chelsea (A)……………………..Wolves (H)
Spurs (H)…………………………Aston Villa (H)
……………………………………..Leicester (A)

An eternal optimist I got my Super Computer to predict the results of these games and here were the results excluding the last game of the season which happens to be Lecester vs Spurs.

Leicester will win 4 and lose 3 (All in the Top 4) = 12 Points.
Spurs will win 6 and draw 3 = 21 Points.

Current Log: Leicester 56 Points + 12 Points = TOTAL 68 Points
Current Log: Spurs 45 Points + 21 Points = TOTAL 66 Points.

There you have it then, SPURS have to win the last game against Leicester to overtake them for 4th spot.

For thoseOptimists and Pessimists out there here are some Top Optimism and Pessimism Quotes:

“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” – Winston Churchill
“A pessimist is one who makes difficulties of his opportunities and an optimist is one who makes opportunities of his difficulties.” – Harry S. Truman

“Some people see the glass half full. Others see it half empty. I see a glass that’s twice as big as it needs to be.” ― George Carlin
“The man who is a pessimist before 48 knows too much; if he is an optimist after it, he knows too little.” – Mark Twain
“The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds, and the pessimist fears this is true.” – James Branch Cabell
“A pessimist is a man who thinks all women are bad. An optimist is one who hopes they are.” – Chauncey Depew
“Both optimists and pessimists contribute to the society. The optimist invents the aeroplane; the pessimist, the parachute.” — George Bernard Shaw
“An optimist will tell you the glass is half-full; the pessimist, half-empty; and the engineer will tell you the glass is twice the size it needs to be.” – Anonymous

“The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.” – William Arthur Ward
“A pessimist only sees the dark side of the clouds, and mopes; a philosopher sees both sides and shrugs; an optimist doesn’t see the clouds at all – he’s walking on them.” – Leonard L Levinson

“No pessimist ever discovered the secrets of the stars, or sailed to uncharted land, or opened a new doorway for the human spirit.” – H.Keller

Nonsense the difference between Chelsea and us is 6 points that is just 2 games and there is around 10 games to play goal difference 2 goals we have 1 game in hand if we win that game the gap will be 3 points, one of the possibilities for us not to finish top 4 is Chelsea wins all of their games and we win all of our games in that case the 3 point gap will stand and we are out of top4 but what is the probability that happens?you guess it, the likes of Nevil and Man United panel in general they can’t stand the success of Tottenham and every chance they get is drum up Kane to leave Tottenham they are a punch of losers and I will never pay to attention the venom they spew.

Barring a dramatic collapse in form surely the current incumbents filling the top 4 slots will remain unchanged?
1.Man City
2.Man Utd
3.Leicester City
4.Chelsea

Pundit’s tend to state that everything will stay the same as it is now, as they lack imagination or any foresight. Also the at the exact moment they said it they look correct, and so much bilge is pouted daily that it is rare for anyone to remember and to pull them up on it later.

Everyone is inconsistent this season without crowds, but I think top 4 might be very optimistic after the last game.
