Pundit details why chairman Daniel Levy is lucky after Spurs’ recent form

By Eddie Razo -

Back in November, Tottenham Hotspur was spiraling in the middle of the Premier League table, leading to the sacking of Nuno Espírito Santo. After getting their initial hiring wrong, the north London club had some luck, considering one of the more prominent managers was out of a job.

Spurs would appoint Antonio Conte as their new boss, and although there have been some peaks and valleys, the Italian tactician has the squad clicking at the right time.

Tottenham currently holds fourth place, and English football pundit Ian Wright claims chairman Daniel Levy should thank his lucky stars that Conte was unemployed when they decided to part ways with Nuno.

“Levy has lucked out; he has lucked out with this manager,” Wright said on  Premier League Productions (via Football.London

Furthermore, Wright details that Manchester United missed out on appointing Conte when they decided to switch managers. Then, he continues by saying Spurs have the right manager if they want to seriously contend with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.

“And Man United, whatever you say about how he coaches, they have missed out. Tottenham are going to have to do unbelievable stuff to catch what Man City and Liverpool are doing, in respect of squads and achievements,” Wright added.

“If there is a manager that is going to help them to do it, then it will be Conte. It’s frightening, at the moment, with what Spurs could do with this manager, Harry Kane, and Son.”

Tottenham will be riding a four-game Premier League winning streak when they welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to north London this weekend.

Levy will see the upturn in our form as a sure sign that no summer signings are necessary.Whilst our first 11 stay free of injury we should be able to secure top four. What Levy doesn’t understand is that the bench contains no game changers, but that suits him fine.Just look for the bottom line.

Let’s all relax until the final whistle against Brighton. It’s OUR first Cup Final of the Run In. Levy is one Lucky Sod, I for one just don’t trust him to change his Clown Like Antics in running this Football Club.

Lots of people say their fans, ive read some of their comments on here, (but I try to avoid them).
Though for Levy conman would be a compliment, you give him too much credit.

Wasn’t it Diaz’s own Father that said the deal was almost there (no problems) but then Tottenham hesitated.

Claims he’s a fan? Trying to sign every man and his dog around ST renewal time? New stadium won’t impact the team? Oh he’s a con man alright.

He’s not a con man but just caught up believing his own BS. But he’s ridden the ride of the clubs financial rise.

I think Conte would have thrown his toys a lot harder than he did when we didn’t get Traore or Diaz. The chairman was lucky in that respect to.
But the habitual inability Levy has in backing the manager at decisive moments is infuriating to most intelligent fans.
The right investment at the right time which can be easier said than done we could have had a more successful period than we did.
The big test is if Levy lets the football guys control the football bit as per Paratici’s remit when he came on board.

Levy is a con man. Sad that some still don’t get it. Buying a young Messi versus a block of flats. It’s a no-brained for that midget p***k.

You lost me at ‘drooling over the Emirates.’ Sorry but that’s utter nonsense. With the loss of WHL, we lost our identity. It’s not been substituted by the NFL crap hole the wan*** of a Chairman put us in record debt for. ENIC out.

I genuinely believe that if Spurs grab 4th from under the noses of those Gooners , we could see a shift in the Chairman’s strategy .
We couldn’t believe he replaced Nuno with Conte as I remember , was it less than 6 months ago , my heads in a spin.
I think we were told that for him to have signed , he must have promises of funding for players at some stage . He has already decimated the squad , albeit largely on loans , but he is separating wheat from chaff , is he not ?
In Romero , Kulusevski and Bentancur , are they not being saluted as terrific signings by the management team ?
For me they have been transformative , the manager is also headhunted by the best clubs in the world , we have Harry & Sonny , why so much despondency ??
Of course the Chairman could spend a bit more , they all could !!!
But please , when your next in the stadium and count your blessings , wasn’t that long ago we were drooling over the Emirates and wondering why we weren’t able to do something similar .
AS far as supporting Spurs , on my life this is a period like no other I have known , there is a genuine chance of a place on the World stage .
Its right here , right now , please some positive support , I understand the sarcasm , but lets get past the “Spursy” Bow Locks…. C o y s !!!!!!!!!!!

Conte has already seen the so called Levy masterclass with the Traore and Diaz deals, both players that Conte wanted, and both deals which Levy prevaricated on until other teams came in and nabbed the players after weeks of inactivity from us. Of course that is what Levy wanted to save him having to actually spend the money. In his pea size footballing brain he thought he could con the fans by pretending to show ambition.
The man is a delusional spendthrift who sacks managers for his own failings like we have days out at the seaside. How one so diminutive with the personality of a tinned sardine can stand in the way of our progress is actually the biggest injustice in the footballing world.

Spot on. Conte won’t hang around too long once he sees the terrifying negotiating tactic of Levy for players. Conte will have a list which Levy will rip up and replace with cheap alternatives. I’d bet he’s gone within the first week of the season ending once PSG offer him an open chequebook.

When you look at the number of managers we’ve had in the last 22 years and the relative success of some. It’s only a matter a WHEN, not IF Conte leaves. My monies on the summer when the transfer window opens. Because that’s when Levy comes into his own.

Conte and his team will undoubtedly have already identified targets. When Levy does Levy and comes back with the snide versions he brought at Wembley market is when he walks.

Levy’s got form and there’s nothing to suggest anything is changing.
