Hugo Lloris has stood out from other Tottenham players as the only one making statements after a horrendous set of results.
The Frenchman spoke after their loss to Dynamo Zagreb and has also spoken of the importance of a win in their next game against Aston Villa.
After the crushing blow that they dealt to the fans following the loss in Zagreb, Spurs’ players were expected to have shown up with apologies or take some responsibility for their role in the upsetting loss.
But there has been quietness from most of them, with only Lloris speaking up and taking responsibility.
The Frenchman spoke to the media again ahead of the Villa game and made it clear that they are in a situation where they have to win the game.
He said they all know exactly the position they are in at the moment and have to get back to form.
The club posted the interview on Twitter and fans responded with some demanding more responsibility.
Can you guys believe we are only 6 points off top 4 with a game in hand?? If we won against arsenal we would be in such a good situation ffs. Hugo… only person with a spine in this team.

Only one who’s got the spine to come out and speak to the media. Also won a World Cup

Weird where a winning mentality can take you
is hugo the only player that’ll talk to the media after the last week of disgusting performances?

Hugo makes mistakes but at least when he has he owns them, apologises & tries harder the next game, but the rest of them- seeing reports they're miserable nothing to be miserable about, still being paid, put a shift in look like you care and maybe we won't get so angry at you all

Lloris may make his mistakes. But I've never once questioned his loyalty or mentality. He speaks the truth. Unlike most of the squad.

Distribution still poor, beaten at near post yet again and doesn’t command the box at all – but let’s applaud him for taking responsibility for sucking.
He’s the team captain. It’s his job to speak out as much as it’s the managers. He was actually doing his job. Oh ! That’s right, we applaud people for doing their job nowadays don’t we. Silly me.
Yup, I read that article; I agree with the journo that Kane’s sudden, complete & unusual absence from interviews speaks more convincingly of his likely departure than all the gossip & speculation combined.
Speaks volumes as they say.
Interesting
He was the nominated player to face the press, but at least he spoke some truth with a passion, can you imagine Sissoko and how pathetic he would be?
His silence is deafening.
An article in today’s Guardian says that one notable absentee from media duties has been Harry Kane, which the journo says is unusual.
As Harry is usually the most obliging Spurs player in terms of interviews. Not only has he has not appeared this week, said journalist remarks that Harry hasn’t appeared since November.
His opinion being that Harry being the honest chap that he is does not want to be put in the position of giving dishonest answers to questions and especially to one question in particular
He expects Harry to break cover during the International break as England Captain, which should make for interesting viewing
Hugo is spot on. I don’t understand the nonsense I see written about him. He’s been in decent form since Maureen took over and he came back from his shoulder injury. We need to be shipping out the dross and keeping this world class manager.
