Tottenham have been linked with a loan move for Liverpool youngster, Ryan Brewster, but Darren Bent doesn’t think it will be a good move for his development.
Spurs are looking for a striker that will play backup to Harry Kane when the Englishman is out of contention for games.
They have been linked with a move for the likes of Callum Wilson and Arkaduzs Milik before now (Football London).
Brewster has emerged as a target for them after the Englishman followed up his 11 goals in 22 games on loan at Swansea last season with 3 goals in 2 games in this preseason.
He is highly-rated at Liverpool, but his path to regular first-team action is being blocked by Liverpool’s fantastic front-three and he might be sent out on loan again.
Spurs would like to have him as he will be an inexpensive addition to their side and will likely be patient enough to get chances to play, however, Bent claims that a move to Spurs will be bad for his development and he would rather like to see Callum Wilson join the Lilywhites.
“You’re messing around with Brewster’s development,” Bent told Football Insider. “He can’t be somebody who sits on the bench.
“I would wait and see what happens and go somewhere where he could progress and play.
“I do like what Mourinho’s doing, but I’m just a bit nervous about him not getting enough game time.
“Someone like Kane, we’ve seen he has a lot of injuries but at the same time we can’t say that’s going to be the case.
“I would prefer someone like Callum Wilson because I don’t like seeing youngsters go to a club and not get enough game time.
“You look at Ryan Sessegnon. I had really big aspirations for him, I thought he’d do well and he’s hardly kicked a ball down there.”

Absolute fkin rhubarb, Liverpool wont be sending Brewster somewhere where he’s not going to play. Most of us are hoping he gets his chance and we keep him here. Plus I doubt Spurs are looking at short term loans like Brewster for cover for Kane anyway.
I think Bent should advise Messi on his future, I’m sure he’d take note, meanwhile I hope Brewster goes back to Swansea on loan, he’ll do well there again.
Tottenham walking football dropped to the over 40s now. Damn it! It was over 50s before.🌚
Brewster is staying at Anfield. They can have Origi if thy want.
