Premier League club eye a late move for 30-year-old Tottenham striker as club opts to let him go in January

Southampton FC are reportedly among the Premier League clubs showing interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur attacker Lucas Moura.

The Brazilian winger, who has been a valuable player for Spurs since his move from Paris Saint-Germain in 2018, has only played 90 minutes in the Premier League this season due to injury and reduced playing time.

With his contract set to expire in the summer, Moura may be seeking a move ahead of the January transfer deadline.

According to a recent report from The Sun, Tottenham could opt to let Moura go now rather than the summer, with several Premier League clubs expressing interest in him including Crystal Palace, Everton, and Southampton.

However, the report suggests that these clubs may hesitate if Moura retains his demand for a salary of £150,000 per week.

Despite the reduced playing time, Moura remains a valuable asset, having scored 38 goals and providing 27 assists in 218 appearances for Tottenham.

His ability to play on either wing and as a forward make him a versatile player that could add depth to any club’s attacking line.

He was instrumental in Tottenham’s Champions League run in 2019, scoring the goals that sent the club to the final.

Southampton, in particular, are in the market for increased attacking power, but the team’s manager, Nathan Jones, has emphasized that the club will not make hasty decisions if the right player is not available.

Moura is a 35-time Brazil international and has a career total of 113 goals over almost 600 games. His experience and versatility make him a valuable addition to any club, and a potential move to Southampton could help reinvigorate his career.

A move to Southampton for Lucas Moura could be a win-win situation for both the player and the club. Moura would get more playing time and a fresh start, while Southampton would get an experienced and versatile player that could add depth to their attack.

The January transfer deadline is fast approaching, and the future of Lucas Moura remains one to watch.
