Predicting Tottenham’s first six Premier League games

By Bruce Grove -

The season is about to get underway and in just over 48 hours time Spurs will welcome Man City to the Tottenham stadium for their league opener.

Spurs have been handed rather a tough opening six games but that is how the cookie crumbles and it is imperative that they get off to a flying start.

Taking each game I have gone with my own personal opinion and no doubt a lot of you will disagree and I look forward to reading your views in the comments below.

15th August Home v Man City

Sadly I do not see us getting anything from this game and there is no point in being biased and living in cloud cuckoo land. Points – 0

22nd August Away v Wolves

It is never easy to go away to Wolves but I am fairly confident that Nuno Santos will know enough about his former team to guide the lads to their first win of the season. Points – 3

29th August Home v Watford

I do not see anything other than a win, that is not disrespecting Watford but we really should be too strong for the promoted outfit. Points – 3

11th September Away v Crystal Palace

Another game that I feel we really should be winning, away games are never easy but Palace are not world beaters and I do see Spurs leaving with all the points. Points – 3

19th September Home v Chelsea

Obviously a very tricky game and one that could actually go either way and if we come away with a point it will be slightly disappointing but acceptable. Points – 1

26th September Away v Arsenal

We don’t have a great record at the Emirates and form counts for very little. Just like the Chelsea game, this one could go either way and for me, a draw would suffice. Points – 1

Conclusion

So, I am predicting 11 points from three wins, two draws and a loss. Also, I am predicting that we do not collect a win against three of the historic top-six, not sure if that is an omen or not.

But there you go, 11 points from 18, am I too optimistic or being far too pessimistic?

Impossible to predict with the Kane and Ndombele situations, added to the fact we still might return to the transfer market

Think the City game will be a draw

I thought the same. The one-touch stuff was rapid. I don’t know if it just looks slower on match days cos our vantage point is further back and in this video we were up close and actually this is how fast it always is from in the thick of it. But if not, if this is new then it looked very tasty indeed.

City are normally slow starters so I wouldn’t be surprised if we nicked a cheeky win at home 😉 few of our boys might decide to make an effort and show kane what he will be missing but pretty much agree with the rest of the assessment Bruce

City (H) = 0
Wolves (A) – 3 (but the Nuno factor could impact this game into a wild card)
Watford (H) – 3
Palace (A) – 1 (they are usually hard to beat at home)
Chelsea (H) – 0 (Depends a lot on Lukaku, but they are a far better side than even 6months ago – I predict they may take a run at the title this year).
Arsenal (A) – 0 (we have poor record at the emirates and it will rely heavily on transfer window and how it closes – but I see Arsenal and us in 5th and 6th).

total 7 points in 6 (but 4 london Derbies and 2 title challengers out the way)

A win against City and the whole world changes , a loss will probably confirm current status . But is a win , with or without HK , as difficult as is made out ? NO !!!!!!!
We are Tottenham , new stadium , new manager , new players , whats not to like ?
This game will be hard fought , but City are under similar pressure , De Bruyne out and the team looking for a natural scorer ,, Spurs have every chance of winning this game , To Dare is To Do , right ??? COYS !!!!!!!!!!!

Watching the Spurs training session video yesterday, the whole pace of their practice game was like nothing we have seen at Spurs for years. Fast flowing, one touch football, getting the ball forward as soon as possible. If that translates into a ‘game plan’ then things look bright, but can the players deliver without giving the opposition 2/3 gilt edge chances every match. I think we might get a point against Man City and wouldnt it be great to stuff them 3-0 and stick two fingers up to Kane. Wishful thinking.
