Podcaster thinks Premier League ace would be a good signing for Spurs

By Bruce Grove -

The Last Word On Spurs podcast co-host, Lee McQueen seems to be excited at the prospect of seeing Danny Ings play for Tottenham.

Tottenham is looking to sign a new striker to help Harry Kane this summer, and Ings has emerged as one of their targets.

The Englishman scored 22 Premier League goals last season, just a goal short of winning the Golden Boot.

After struggling for form and fitness at Liverpool, he has now scored 27 league goals in the past two seasons for the Saints.

McQueen urged Spurs to go and sign the former Burnley striker, and he even reckoned that Spurs’ interest may have turned his head.

He also compared Ings’ performances to that of Kane last season and insisted that the striker will be worth signing.

He said: “Let’s go and get Danny Ings. If the club now has sort of said, ‘yeah we’ve potentially been linked with him’, Danny Ings’ head might be slightly turned. He’s [got] two years left on his contract. His stats, his duels, his goals, his work rate [are] absolutely phenomenal.

“If you put him head-to-head with Kane last year – Kane didn’t kick a ball for six months so there’s a caveat – but if you put him up against Kane, he was just as good as him. In actual fact, [in terms of] tracking back and pressing, he was even better, so he’d be an unbelievable signing.”

Ings will be a tough transfer to complete considering that he is enjoying regular playing time at Southampton and his manager has made it clear that he isn’t for sale.

That said, the prospect of playing with players of the calibre of Harry Kane and Gareth Bale must be enticing.

Ings has just proved what I have suggested recently , of him being a decent acquisition for us, very natural in front of goal, two today.

There’s still 3 weeks almost before the window closes and if we continue to flounder Kane could be off with the right offer.
Guardiola has said apparently that Aguero is out for a further 2 months.
Mind you perhaps with a golfing buddy now Harry would give it another season.

No way. He’s like Alli, made the breakthrough at a young age, plateaued, became a fashion designer then went backwards. We don’t need two of them at the club.

Oh yeah, Danny Ings. The question that has to be asked is “How would you feel if Danny Ings was our first choice striker next year after we sell Harry Kane to Real Madrid?” While statistically he compares favourably to Harry Kane as per the article, I find the prospect of him becoming a Spurs player underwhelming. A bit like selling your Rolls Royce and buying a Ford Mondeo. But if we did sell Harry next season, I don’t know that a ‘hot prospect’ player could fill the Kane-sized void after only 1 season at the club, making Ings more palatable.

Devo that I missed the all the hoop-la yesterday for the Return of the King. Still, it gives me an excuse to bring out the 2012/13 3rd kit with Bale 11 on it out of the wardrobe. Couldn’t we just sell Lamela so he can have his 11 shirt back?

I’m not sure I would take Jesse Lingard even if United paid us 30 million.

Not sure what to make of this.
But if Jose believes in him, bring him in.
