Pochettino camp denies talks have taken place with Tottenham

By Bruce Grove -

The reports of talks between Mauricio Pochettino’s camp and Daniel Levy are false, according to L’Equipe via Inside Futbol.

The Argentinean manager spent five seasons at Spurs before they fired him in 2019 even though he led them to the final of the Champions League that year.

He has just landed his first managerial job since that time after becoming the latest manager of PSG.

However, some reports in recent days claim that he has been unhappy with the way things work at the French side and he is now open to a return to Spurs with whom he has unfinished business.

It was claimed that Poch has had talks with Levy and is open to returning to North London despite how he left Spurs.

However, the report says that is untrue and Poch and Levy haven’t had any conversation about a sensational return.

The report even claimed that he is already planning for the new season with the former French champions and has drawn up plans for the coming campaign including player recruitments.

Spurs managerial targets keep reducing and Poch has joined the likes of Brendan Rodgers and Julian Nagelsmann as managers that they have missed out on.

But the likes of Zinedine Zidane and Antonio Conte have become available in recent days.

Conte might take the money, no way Zidane lowers himself to this level!

lol! … Re-read my post H! I didn’t say Poch was coming back or that it was desirable, I merely said that the L’Equipe article was a pack of lies because it referenced as its source Poch’s entourage or ‘camp’ and we know full well that Poch doesn’t have an agent or ‘camp’, he represents himself.

I personally think it’s unlikely that Poch will return at this juncture for several reasons, although until the managerial appointment is actually confirmed the possibility cannot be ruled out. Notwithstanding, I shall have to wisely decline your £100 wager!

Most people are able to recognise that on a small budget Poch did a very good job. His last year or so was marred by Levy’s stadium obsession and general penny pinching resulting in zero signings for over a calendar year.

Many also feel he should have been given the time and means to carry out the rebuild (he said himself) that had to take place.

i don’t think it particularly outrageous for a large portion of our support to want him back, on that basis alone…

I really liked Poch and had really high hopes he would be the man to take us to the League title – not just a random Cup. I thought his teams played with verve and I genuinely loved watching what I thought was unveiling in front of my incredulous Spurs-tinted glasses. At the end I thought there was a faint whiff of him becoming the paid ENIC stooge, as the Ryan Mason of his time, happy to praise the project and not the ENIC-related football lunacy. I hope this is rumor as if he returns I will know what he really is. For anyone who held his reign in high esteem, here’s praying he loved the club and he publicly turns down this horrid little worm killing our club.

I can only imagine the phone conversations that Mourinho had with his coaching peers over the last months or so describing the nightmare of working under Levy and the ENIC constraints. The Spurs job is radioactive. You can’t humiliate a Mourinho, a great manager with the CV to back it up, and not have to deal with the blowback from the coaching fraternity and the soccer world in general.

I really for the life of me can’t understand why supporters want poch back. We were 14th in the league when he was sacked not 4th. In 5 odd years we won nothing. He made a terrible call in the cl final by playing Harry. He didn’t stand up to levy enough to demand the right players were bought and also almost as important sold. What is this crazy loosing attitude spurs fans have. Do they never want to see spurs win something again. Poch is not a strong enough manager however I honestly believe conte is and I believe we can get him. Would we have to sell Harry. Probably. Is Harry leaving no matter who becomes manager. Probably. Take the money flog the rubbish do a proper rebuild.

Another £100, then.

I’m fabulously wealthy.

For you guys this a big deal. For me, this is nothing, a fart, a burp, not even a hiccup.
My reserves are huge.

Are you readied, are you capable to settle your accounts, boys?

Let us up the ante. Tom.

Done?

Poch will be the most dumb manager in the world if he leaves PSG and comes back to Levy & co.

The l’Equipe report is clearly a pack of lies as it’s well known that Poch doesn’t have an ‘entourage’ or a ‘camp’, he represents himself and contrary to their assertion it’s highly likely that he has spoken with Levy. Whether those talks will lead to a reprise of Poch’s tenure at Spurs (or whether that is even desirable) is another matter entirely.

Same as 5Live stating as fact that there were actual talks. How do they get away with this?

Great for their listening figures but there are real people involved here, people in actual jobs like Poch.

Maybe PSG hear all this and think he’s plotting something behind their backs. Really unprofessional.

Incredible how sky sports news can plaster this nonsense as fact all day on their station. That’s the media though……liars. Sensationists. Alarmists.
