Personal Terms Agreed On £17M+ Add Ons Deal|Despite Sour Grapes From Saints Friendly Press

By The Boy -

As per our recent information, the transfer of Pierre-Emile Højbjerg from Southampton to Tottenham is agreed, and the deal will be formally announced shortly. However, not everyone is happy with the move.

My understanding is that Southampton friendly elements in the press during this affair have done their level best to encourage interest from other clubs, even turning a passing interest from Everton into a formal bid and visit to that club’s training ground.

Despite the player’s disinterest in signing an extension with the South Coast Club, and the Saints’ subsequent removal of Pierre’s captaincy, some sour grapes involved have sought to run a campaign painting Tottenham’s interest as peripheral.

No amount of fake reporting can prevent a transfer.

I hope Lo Celso comes good mate.. And Ndom too, if they do then happy days.. I’ll be first to hold hands up, apologise, admit I was wrong.. Can’t see either becoming ‘great’ though.. The top craftsmen are sniffed out by the top clubs.. The top craftsmen we have been linked with in recent years like dybala, coutinho etc all stayed or went to top clubs. We had noone in for those two. Only we were interested. Levy likes his PSG rejects and seemingly ligue 1 players.. A long list of rubbish in my opinion mate, wish he’d leave that french league alone now. Stambouli, nokloudo, clinton cards, aurier lo celso ndombenchboy…. Grealish is better than all them put together.

Lo celso arrived with an injury apparently. He is still injured? Over 20 premier games, yet to bag a goal and only one assist to Kane. He hasn’t impressed in his first season for me… He is trying though bless him.. The best he can do is run with the ball and he doesn’t do this enough… Passing, shooting, tackling and general workrate is very average… Bruno Fernandes cost about the same.

Too much money spoiled football. It’s all about doing good business now to strengthen the first team in particular. My own long held views are that some players who are regularly in the first team are not good enough for a side that either aspires or pretends it aspires to top honours. And yet it’s a club like Tottenham that could do that with the right decisions? They would need to offload and cannot in this business and they would need to bring higher quality. That they could do. The right balance for an eleven and the rest depends on the manager and his staff winning matches. Hojbjerg is primarily better but also a highly embedded professional. He’d be welcomed at any top club to contend for a particular role. That’s his strength in many ways. He brings balance and security. He’s proven and it appears that Tottenham will secure his long term services. It’s also who can then play his role well when he is unavailable for his team? That is the question an aspiring top side must have covered.

If Hojbjerg is a sit in front of the CB’s type that’s great, Lo Celso needs to be further forward instead of trying to be a ball winner. As Lewis was mentioned, he could be Liverpool bound, but if I could have one player in a Spurs shirt above anyone else, it’s Saint Maximin,…..oh well !

JM may like him,but for all his effort he doesn’t actually provide much. His goals and assists are well down on what is expected of a player in his position.
We still need a proper creative midfielder to fill the gap left by Eriksen.Brookes could be that man,but with our very limited funds(Levy’s words not mine),would we even bother.

I admire your optimism but NDombele is clearly not happy, is unfit, overweight and Maureen doesn’t rate him. Apart from that, he’s golden!!! Lo Celso is decent, but at the moment he looks like a La Liga player rather than a PL player, but I see grounds for optimism and hopefully he will kick on.

I get that Hojbjerg is good at his job of breaking up attacks as an effective and still young DM, what I don’t know is how good he is at distribution once he nicked the ball off the other fella. Hopefully he’s good at that too. Nobody will be as good as Dembele was, I think he’s more of a Wanyama.

I would also add that given the expenditure by some of the other teams, we may have to come back to reality as being a team that should aim for top six minimum, with anything else a bonus. Oh, and as it’s Jose, I would definitely put greater effort in winning a cup – the man has form after all.

Hojbjerg is a decent ‘nuts and bolts’ type of DM. Not sexy, but probably exactly what we need. We haven’t yet replaced Dembele and Wanyama, who were imperious together in controlling the midfield and allowing the creative types such as Eriksen and Dele to do their thing.

I have hopes for NDombele but if there’s an issue, perhaps monies should be raised from his sale. Add in Aurier, Foyth, Rose and perhaps someone like (deep breath) Dele, and we would have over £100M to give Jose (as long as Levy hands it over that is!).

If these sales enable us to get two decent full backs, another experienced CB, an AM replacement for Eriksen and some back-up for Kane then I say do it as the balance of the squad will be so much better.

Castagne is a very good full back, and Lewis from Norwich is destined for greater things IMO. I’d take Coutinho on loan if possible and get a younger player such as Cantwell/Brookes/Eze. I actually think King would be a better target man option than his team-mate, while Muriqi would provide a muscular threat. In essence, there are some players out there that wouldn’t cost the earth, but that would improve us and give us greater squad balance.

I work with a huge Southampton fan, and to be blunt, he is not upset. He was more upset about how the player conducted himself, basically all he thinks they will miss is his attitude, his skills are average at best. I am sure many could say the same about Roy Keane.

Personally I would cut losses and dispense with Ndombele in this transfer window . IMO this weird transfer decision is not what we required at the time.
What we required is another creative Modric, but instead recruited yet another holding midfielder added to those we already have!!

Greatness is tough to achieve…Those three amigos sounds more like a mid table trio… The new guy is no Makelele.. Lo celso is trying but not making the grade, and Ndombenchy can’t get fit he’s like a china doll. Maybe he’s also afraid to run because he’s so scared of injury.

The dull type of player we need to add steel to our creativity in the middle of the park. Him, sitting behind Lo Celso and Ndombele would be great
