Source Close To Club: Spurs hopeful of announcing £25M+ deal this week

By The Boy -

According to a source close to Tottenham, Spurs are hopeful of announcing an agreement with Southampton for the transfer of Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.

The negotiations have rumbled round and round for weeks and my understanding is that Jose Mourinho has been gently pressuring Daniel Levy to get players in as soon as possible, so the group can integrate.

It has also been suggested to me that supposed interest from other sides in Højbjerg, specifically in respect of Everton, has been exaggerated. There’s a considerable difference between an enquiry and a firm bid.

Southampton are unhappy with the collapse of their relations with the player, but this hardly a complete shock to anyone and may in turn highlight why Mourinho is so keen on the 24-year-old. In 2018, after dropping 2 points, Hojbjerg was quoted by The Mirror saying of the Saints “It is a mental problem. It is a weakness. We need to look at it, and we need to be better.”

After Jose’s leaked expletive riddled rant at Hotspur Way, Pierre looks to be just what the doctor ordered.

You lot do understand that PEH from all accounts on-line (never denied) is the 1st choice of JM. Christ on a bike you have become too accustomed to watching Winks & Sissoko, This boy will either take the ball of any threat or knock them over.
No wonder JM wants him.

Far from it Steve highlighted the Le Tissier quote on here but for me I have done a 360 and am convinced the 1 thing Spurs need is a m/f general with attitude. Not exactly nasty but confident he can get the ball off any Mane/Salah/Aubeyemong(sic)/Rashford bearing down on our goal.

Even Levy wouldn’t put in a bid of 6M for him this time.

I’ve heard that Levy said he was willing to spend a world record transfer fee. The only problem is, it was a world record transfer fee in 1961 … £99,999 – (Jimmy Greaves – AC Milan to Spurs)

We can but live in hope H! Either way, we can expect more bargain basement haggling from Mr Buddy Buy Wrong, as we continue to be associated with a slew of relegation fodder salary casualties. He actually played in the back line last match and fired in a wicked shot that made me think he has a chance with us.

Yeah he said that under Hughes 2 years ago but since the comeback saints have been 3rd best in the league- and all the improvement has come since he’s been dropped. Bet he feels a right tit now no champions league clubs have come in or shown any true interest? And now saints are eyeing other right backs the KWP makeweight could be dead in the water and poor old Pierre will have to sit and watch again until January. If the arse paid £5m for Cedric on loan for the last couple of months of his contract then undoubtedly saints valuation of Pierre is fairly accurate. Trouble with spurs is levy holding the club back with his small club quibbling antics. I don’t think the new members of the saints hierarchy will have they’re tummys tickled quite as easily as less reed and Ralph Krueger did.
