Harry Kane and Gareth Bale are almost undisputedly the best two Tottenham players of the Premier League era.
Honourable mention to Ledley King, but injuries prevented him from ever having the world-class reputation shared by Kane and Bale.

But of these two attacking superstars, who was the best at their peak? (He writes with a sad acceptance that 26-year-old Kane has already past his.)
This was the subject of this week’s The View From The Lane podcast by The Athletic, who set up a Twitter poll to help them decide.
1,905 votes later and Bale emerged with a landslide victory.
I thought peak Bale was better, @JamesTMaw said peak Kane. Let’s do a poll!

I too would side with Bale. A two-time PFA Player of the Year winner, his 2012-13 season with Spurs was as good as anything I’ve seen. For a moment, even if it was only a month or two, we had the best player in the world.
And remember, the question was who was better at their peak.
But I am surprised by his margin of victory, with nearly three times the number of votes as Kane whose Spurs career has been superior to the Welshman in terms of longevity, consistency, and, up to this point, loyalty.

Tough one. Kanes sheer amount of goals are irreplaceable, but he needs feeding… Bales pace probably makes him more dangerous and likely and able to turn a game on its head. He can get the ball in his own half and do multiple players. And Bale has proven himself in finals. That overhead kick against the scouse was outrageous.
Bale, easily. All the technical striking prowess of Kane, with blistering pace to boot. Unplayable at his peak.
