‘Not Important for Me’ – Antonio Conte talks about whether it’s vital for Son to keep scoring

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur continued their good run in form, hammering Aston Villa 4-0 at Villa Park. Son Heung-min scored a hat-trick for the north London club and the 29-year-old’s performance couldn’t come at a better time.

With Arsenal losing to Brighton & Hove Albion, Spurs had the opportunity to pad their hold onto fourth place. As a result, having Son put forth three goals and helped Tottenham get three points.

After the win, manager Antonio Conte spoke at his news conference, where he was asked about Son putting together performances as he did against Aston Villa, especially on days when Harry Kane doesn’t appear on the scoresheet.

“It is not important for me who scores. For sure, we are scoring a lot of goals because there is a great link, a great connection between these three players in attack. Don’t forget we have two good players behind them in Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn, but it is the whole team that I working very well,” Conte said, per Football.London.

“We are creating chances with the whole team. We are working a lot on the tactical aspect. For sure, to have more time to have more days to work to prepare the game. Six days or seven days for me was really, really important because don’t forget I arrived at Tottenham in November and I arrived during the season you have to bring your idea of football and at the same time you have to play for three points.”

Tottenham hopes to continue this run in form as they wish to main their position and clinch a UEFA Champions League spot for next season. Up next will be welcoming The Seagulls to north London, so they’ll be looking to avoid what Arsenal went through this weekend.
