“No decision has been taken” – Tottenham transfer target discusses his future at Villarreal

By Eddie Razo -

The backline is a position in which Tottenham Hotspur will hope to add a player to go alongside Cristian Romero and Eric Dier. Over the past few months, many players have been linked to the north London club to help improve the group, including Villarreal’s Pau Torres

For nearly a year, Spurs have had an interest in the 25-year-old, last year they were keen on adding him, but the Spanish defender reportedly chose to remain with The Yellow Submarine since they were playing UEFA Champions League football.

However, after helping the Spanish side reach the semifinals, it seems as though Torres could be open to a departure this summer, and Marca relayed his remarks when discussing his future.

“No decision has been taken,” Torres said regarding his future. “The only offer I have right now is that of Villarreal’s contract extension. I have the peace of mind of being where they want me, where I have a valid contract and a renewal offer.”

“The future will tell what happens next, but I am very calm, I don’t look further ahead. I’ve experienced two very good years at Villarreal, we have competed with the best at European level which is what every player wants. And if, in addition, you do it in the team of your town, that’s huge.”

Despite having an interest in Torres last year, the Villarreal defender might not be the top target to fill the central defense role on the squad. However, some reports might suggest that Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni is the No. 1 target for the backline.
