Tottenham duo now ‘look likely to stay’ according to latest report

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ivan Perisic was linked with a move away from the club earlier this summer.

Perisic was expected to return to his former club inter Milan. Former Tottenham manager Antonio Conte played a key role in his arrival and Italian’s departure was expected to signal an end to his time at the north London club.

A report from the Times claims that Ange Postecoglou is impressed with the Croatian international’s performances and he is ready to hold on to the player beyond this summer.

Perisic was an important player for Tottenham last season and he was deployed as the wingback. The experienced Croatian international helped out defensively and chipped in with 12 assists. He is expected to be an important player for Tottenham once again this season.

Meanwhile, Giovani Lo Celso was also linked with a move away this summer, but it seems that the Argentine international has impressed the newly appointed Tottenham manager during pre-season.

The playmaker is expected to continue at Spurs beyond this summer as well. Both players ‘look likely to stay’ as per the Times.

Spurs could certainly use more creativity and technical ability in the middle of the park and the Argentine would be a quality option to have. He could be a backup option to James Maddison or he could play as a winger.

The Argentine international is versatile enough to slot into a number of positions and he will certainly add goals and assists to the side.
