There’s no denying that manager Antonio Conte has turned the fortunes at Tottenham Hotspur since his hiring in late November. The north London club went from the middle of the road to fighting for a spot in the top four.
Eric Dier spoke with Sky Sports (via Football.London), discussing various topics regarding the Italian tactician, noting how he has helped them improve over the last few months. In addition, Dier spotlighted the working style and how that attitude has rubbed off on the squad.
“It is easy to fall into that trap. In a club like this, with an incredible set-up, training ground, and stadium, we need to try and push on as a club and as individuals within that to try and take us back to where we were a few years ago and past that,” Dier said.
Furthermore, the 28-year-old discussed how Conte has helped improve his game since coming on as manager last year. Dier states the way the manager pushes him and how he never wants a player to be satisfied with their form.
“The way in which he pushes you, he is never satisfied, and he wants you to never be satisfied,” Dier said. “He wants more from you and demands a lot. I find that a very enjoyable environment to work in. He demands a lot from you, but he gives everything of himself to you.”
Conte will hope all this well be enough for Tottenham to finish in the top four. Spurs sit in fifth place with their north London rivals, Arsenal, occupying the fourth spot. Both have one game pending, deciding who has UEFA Champions League football for next season.
