Mourinho Survives His First (and definitely not last) Sarcasm Attack

By Joe Fish -

Jose Mourinho has been attacked by Lille coach Christopher Galtier for poaching two of his coaching staff to join him at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Portuguese was appointed as Mauricio Pochettino’s replacement on Wednesday morning and wasted little time in assembling his support team, including assistant manager Joao Sacremento and Nuno Santos from Lille.

So Mourinho has been here two days and he’s already ruffling feathers. I love it.

Galtier, though, was less than happy with how Mourinho went about it.

“Everyone has their own way of doing things,” Galtier told RMC Sport, via The Evening Standard. “But it’s really classy. Really classy to act like that.”

According to The Evening Standard, Mourinho is hopeful that Spurs may return to Lille to snare the big prize of Sporting Director Luis Campos.

But Galtier is determined that Campos is committed to Lille, adding to RMC Sport: “Luis is 200 per cent invested in the project and I don’t see a thousandth of a wish to look elsewhere. We’re close and looking forward.”

The Evening Standard adds that there is currently no room for Campos in the Spurs hierarchy, which is a strange stance to take when talking about the man who helped discover the likes of Fabinho, Bernardo Silva and Anthony Martial.

Mourinho’s backroom staff is completed by Ricardo Formosinho and Giovanni Cerra, both of whom worked with him at Manchester United, as tactical and technical analysts, and fitness coach Carlos Lalin who was part of The Special One’s team at Real Madrid.

Levy is desperate, theres no doubt in my mind he is under pressure as a lot is at stake with the “brand” including the new AIA deal, bank loans, NFL connections, naming rights potential etc etc….the one thing that may work in fans favour now is he has to get results…sounds like Mourice has lowered his pecking order of clubs, but hay, if he wins us games and those big shinny things that look like cups, and as long as I dont pull my teeth out watching us play, I’m in…for now…
