Mourinho Adds A Healthy Dose Of Intrigue To Bayern Clash

By Joe Fish -

Jose Mourinho has revealed that he will be letting four of Tottenham Hotspur’s best youngsters loose on Bayern Munich next week.

There is nothing hanging on our trip to Germany as both teams have already qualified for the Champions League last 16, and Bayern are uncatchable at the top of Group B.

Therefore, the Portuguese is planning to leave some senior players behind at Hotspur Way for some deeper tactical work – and it will also act as a useful rest ahead of a hectic festive fixture list.

Mourinho will take the opportunity to look at some fringe players and name checked Kyle Walker-Peters, Oliver Skipp, Ryan Sessegnon and…wait for it… Troy Parrott, as those who may get a chance to impress.

“Because we are going to finish second. It doesn’t matter the result, but it’s very important for the players. Very important for the players that are going to play,” Football London quote Mourinho as saying.

“It’s very important for me to know them better. I am going to play for sure some players that are not playing with me in these matches we are playing.

“It’s a great opportunity for young people. A great opportunity for the development of these young players, the Walker-Peters, the Skipps, the Parrotts, the Sessegnons, all these young players that we have, it’s a great opportunity for them.”

We have all been desperate to see more of Parrott after his eye-catching performances in pre-season, with his only first-team football this campaign was in the EFL Cup humiliation at Colchester United.

It would be unfair to expect too much from the 17-year-old against a team of the stature of Bayern, but equally a positive showing would be a strong indication that he is ready for Premier League exposure.

This has certainly added intrigue to a dead rubber.
