More Historical Serge Aurier Chaos Emerges [+opinion]

By Joe Fish -

Serge Aurier made my dreams come true earlier this month when he spoke about his plans to leave Tottenham.

The Ivorian right-back told Canal + Afrique of his ambitions to return to Paris Saint-Germain, from whom he joined Spurs in 2016.

That didn’t go down well with former PSG winger Jerome Rothen, who subsequently told RMC Sport that Aurier had blown his chance at Parc des Princes, starting a war of words with the 27-year-old.

Aurier responded by threatening to reveal secrets of some of Rothen’s poor behaviour during his time with the Ligue 1 champions, which finished four years prior to Aurier’s arrival in the French capital? In the same interview, the Spurs’ defender also excused the infamous Periscope incident which led to his PSG demise under Laurent Blanc.

Are you still following? Good, because here’s Rothen’s latest shot back…

Rothen told RMC, via Made in Foot:

You have to stop with the crazy talk. You do a Periscope, even if you don’t know it, you learn it will be put online. Honestly, he’s even dumber than I thought. Sorry, but it’s nonsense.

He says I don’t have a clean record, but I’d like to know what I did at PSG? Tell me… If he’s simply talking about the explanations I had with fans during a short period of time or of my spat with Guy Lacombe, it’s completely different, because I’ve never ratted on anyone in my club.

Forgive me for indulging in what is a playground slanging match between two grown men, but I felt the need to share with you how little someone else thinks of Aurier, rather than me whinging about him for a change.

Anyway, seems like he wouldn’t be welcome back at PSG. Damn.

Good squad player he is. I’d be in no rush to sell him, but if good money was offered (it won’t be) give him another full domestic cup season I say.
