Micah Richards calls on Daniel Levy to back Antonio Conte with £200M budget

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur has hit a rough patch in their season, losing their last two matches to Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanders as their top-four chances are taking a hit.

Spurs now sit seven points behind Manchester United. Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards is calling for Tottenham chief executive Daniel Levy to back Antonio Conte to the tune of £200-million.

Richards cites last week’s performance and the matches versus Chelsea as to why the north London club needs to make a high investment into their club to put them on par with the top clubs in the Premier League.

“Awful, absolutely awful. He [Conte] should have known that when he was offered the job,” Richards said on BBC Radio 5 Live (via Football.London).

“But it’s not Conte’s problem. In the summer, he needs to spend £100million plus, get in some proper players. Maybe £150million, £200million, whatever you can get.”

Furthermore, Richards adds that Conte has shown that when a club gives him what he needs, the 52-year-old is able to work his magic and win trophies for the club.

“The senior players, [Cristian] Romero and [Davinson] Sanchez, I’m confused. These are good players or were good players. I don’t understand. Every part of the puzzle just seems the wrong way around at this moment in time.”

“He needs to win, so give him what he wants. He’s won in the past, so at least he knows how to work that sort of magic at the top level; why would you not give him what he wants? Why get an elite manager if you’re not going to give him the tools to deliver? What’s the point?”

It’s looking as though Tottenham might miss the top four, and so they’ll have to break open the bank to pull up the squad that’s up to his standards.

The point Micah is ENIC know its cheaper to invest in a top manager than top players.

A big name manager is good PR, distracts from the mess ENIC are making, fools most of the fans that finally this time, this window, this summer the manager will be backed.

A big name manager in ENICs way of thinking is a short cut to success and if it fails you have a manger to sack and deflect the blame from ENIC.

Micah its a con game pure and simple.

Sorry to be neg. and if you ever see me posting “Conte Out” then send me to watch an *rsenal home game in a Goon shirt.
But do we have faith to spend £200m in a pair who state Sanchez could be a top class defender and Harry Winks had a good game.
And sticks with Emerson & Sanchez after a rinsing by Southampton.
Or worse a man who brought in Gollini & Bryan & Emerson (who was classed as **** by Arteta).

Come on Tony get a grip mate you are falling into the Spurs trap of mediocrity rules – you are better than that

More than 100m is spent already on future fees. They still have to pay for Romero. Sarr is coming in for 30m or whatever. Mark my words, he’s another Gil. Kulu for around 30m and clearly he’s nowhere near good enough for a top four club. If they can the cancel Sarr and Kulu signings that would be a start. Instead of loaning out Gil for another season, sell him to the highest bidder. We should have a ready made 50m player in that position.

Get rid of the deadwood and sign proven Prem quality. Neves, Bissouma, Ward-Prowse, Aké, Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison etc. Good Prem players at allegedly lesser clubs. Or you sign another VDV or Moura. Jovic, Kursawa, Dybala, Kessie are realistic targets. Joao Pedro at Watford looks talented. If they’re relegated I’d make a move. Sesko looks like a potential beast, the next Haaland.

We need a new defense, bar Romero. Two Cb’s of his standard. We also need new WB’s. Missed the boat on Digne which is a shame. Kursawa and Semedo perhaps.

Paratici is a problem, not an asset so far. He should grow a pair and stand up to Levy and back the fecking manager in all transfer decisions. Appeal to Danny’s self interest. “Get it wrong next window and we’re all finished”

Richards apparently doesn’t understand the way Levy operates. As if he is suddenly going to magic up 200M for Conte’s enjoyment. His argument is always sell to buy and it’s never going to change.Conte is gone in the summer, then we are really in deep doodoo.

Never going to happen. The Levy leopard will never change its spots. Even if £200m was made available would you trust Paratici to spend it wisely? His track record is mixed at best. How can he have thought that Bryan Gil was up to the rigours of the Premier League? Dragged out the Tomiyasu transfer and then spent even more on a complete dud. And as for Letagoalini. Let’s hope the January two prove better signings.
