Is it Alisson? We need a new number one.
Is it Virgil van Dijk? What a coup that would be.
Nope, it is Thomas Gronnemark, the throw-in coach who has made a mundane set-piece a specialist weapon on Merseyside.
It might sound like a late April Fools’ joke, but this short video begins to explain how throw-ins have been key to Liverpool’s success.
via ytCropperGronnemark has been working with Liverpool on a freelance basis but is ready to take his expertise somewhere else.
“Maybe I’ll be with Tottenham or Manchester United next year, as I’m not tied down as a freelancer,” Gronnemark told Kicker.
“I’m just not allowed to be a direct competitor in any one season, that’s my rule. That’s why I have already turned down a top offer from England this season.
“But I would very much like to prove myself in Germany. I don’t know of anyone who does it professionally like I do.
“But of course more and more people are recognising the potential, and now some co-trainers are looking into the subject.”
He’d have his work cut out with Serge Aurier, that’s for sure.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Make Him Captain.
Here is something to get you thinking! The throw-in is holding football back as a viewing spectacle. If it changed to the field hockey rule, where players can pass to themselves football would be better for it. Retaining possession off a throw-in is a problem for a lot of teams, but it is the least of Spurs’s problems at the moment. Can we get a Fat Camp coach for N’Dombele, a This is your near post coach for Lloris and a Pack your stupid flicks in coach for Dele?
