Manager has ‘great regrets’ over blocking 25-year-old’s move to Spurs – will allow him to join in January

Details have emerged of Tottenham Hotspur’s failed attempt to sign Victor Nelsson from Galatasaray in the summer.

The North London club was keen on signing the centre-back and reportedly had made an offer for him as well.

However, the Turkish giants rejected their offer much to the disappointment of the player who was not pleased with his side’s decision to block his move.

According to Haber7, both Tottenham AND Sevilla made an offer close to €20m for the Denmark international but it was turned down at the insistence of Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk.

The report further states that the manager has now told people close to him that he has ‘great regrets’ over his decision to not allow the player to move to Spurs in the summer transfer window.

As per one recent report, Spurs are still keen on signing the defender in January who has a €30m release clause.

Tottenham will be able to secure his services if they are willing to pay up in January.

They need to add defensive depth to the side and Nelsson could prove to be a quality signing.

And another recent report in Turkish outlet Milliyet claims that he could be sold for just €20 million in January.

Nelsson has fallen down the pecking order and the club do not want his value to depreciate over the course of the season.

Which is why they are prepared to let him leave for a nominal price in January.
