Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the move for the Galatasaray defender Victor Nelsson.
The 24-year-old defender has been linked with the move to the north London club for months now. Earlier this month we covered reports that Tottenham are hoping to secure his services and it remains to be seen whether they decide to make a move for him in January.
Spurs have now been handed a boost in the pursuit of the Danish international defender. A report from Turkish outlet Milliyet claims that he could be sold for just €20 million (£17m) in January. Apparently, Nelsson has fallen down the pecking order at the Turkish club and they do not want his value to depreciate over the course of the season. They are prepared to let him leave for a nominal price in January.
Tottenham could certainly use defensive reinforcements and the 24-year-old central defender could be a useful squad player for them. They have improved their defensive unit with the signings of Ashley Phillips and Micky Van de Ven during the summer transfer window. However, Postecoglou needs more depth in his squad in order to compete across multiple competitions.
Nelsson will certainly be tempted to move to the Premier League and the opportunity to play for Tottenham will be an exciting option for him. His role has been reduced to that of a substitute at the Turkish club and he will be keen on a fresh challenge. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can take advantage of the opportunity and sign him for a knockdown price.
