Roberto D’Aversa says he would love to work with Mikkel Damsgaard in the 2021/2022 season, but he also recognises that it might not happen.
The Danish attacker is the subject of interest from Tottenham and a host of other European clubs in this transfer window.
He was one of his country’s stars as they reached the Euro 2020 semi-final and he scored in their last-four defeat to England.
Tottenham has had their eyes on him even when Jose Mourinho was their manager and it remains the case.
The new football director, Fabio Paratici, knows him well from his time at Juventus and would jump at the chance to sign him for Tottenham.
There is still plenty of time for transfer business to be done and D’Aversa isn’t so confident that Damsgaard will spend the upcoming campaign with them.
Speaking about the attacker’s future recently, he claimed to La Repubblica as quoted by Inside Futbol: “I’d love to work with him, but I know I might lose him.
“What I can say is that it would do him good to play continuously in the Italian league.
“Last year he played 24 games, but not always from the start.
“If he could stay, I am convinced that his value would eventually increase.”
