Man United working on a deal for a Tottenham target while report details the future of Joe Rodon

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to upgrade their midfield this summer, and one of the more recent targets linked to the north London club is Leeds United Kalvin Phillips, who’s valued between £50-million and £60-million.

If Spurs feel that Phillips is one of the two midfielders they want to land, they’ll have to act fast. According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United has already begun working on a deal for the 26-year-old.

Phillips is under contract until 2024, and if Leeds United wants to get the most for their midfielder, this summer would be the time to sell and get the most for him.

While Spurs look to add a midfielder this summer like Phillips, they’ll also be looking to sell this summer, and one player that the north London club wants to offload is Joe Rodon.

Football Insider reports will be listening to offers for Rodon this summer, who has failed to crack the starting eleven since manager Antonio Conte took over in November.

Rodon was someone Spurs wanted to offload in January, but potential permanent and loan options didn’t materialize, and it meant him staying at Tottenham for the remainder of the season.

I haven’t seen enough of Rodon to form an opinion. He seems to play well for the golfer’s country. Every Spurs gaffer speaks highly of him but none play him. Very strange.

Rodon, an injury plagued CB in the Championship with mid-table Swansea was brought in to replace Vertonghen. Enough said. The poor lad has wasted 2 years of his life at Spurs

The strange case of Rodon sums up in a nutshell everything that is wrong in Daniel Levy. He had captured his no1 managerial target in Mourinho, we were right at the top of the table in December, not only was CL a certainty but there was even talk of us being title contenders. Yet our defence was our Achilles heel, Mourinho made it clear that the defence needed strengthening for success to be achieved, he said that he wanted a top CB such as Skriniar who was available for just £45m – less than we paid for the French Belly.
So what did our alleged Spurs fan of a chairman do? He baulked at spending the money as always, being inherently tight to his very soul, and ordered the purchase of a £13m Rodon instead. It was madness as it meant we had yet another punt of a kid who could not come into the defence and strengthen it, but instead would be expected to learn from CB’s who themselves needed replacing!
We ended the season in 7th but hey ho Levy saved £32m. It never seems to occur to him that the money he saved cost him untold riches from CL qualification.
What can you do with a fool like that? The man is a gold plated imbecile.
