Liverpool Fan: ‘Poch lacks Klopp’s mean streak’

By The Boy -

This week the Harry Hotspur blog spoke to Ste Carson from Empire Of The Kop. We got some some interesting responses to our questions!

What could Pochettino learn from Klopp?

They’re two very different people, but are both very good at what they do. What Mauricio Pochettino has done with the funds he’s been provided speaks for itself, and I find it very hard to criticise him.

I think Klopp has a mean streak in him – you saw him at Old Trafford last weekend, when the whistle for half-time went, he ran straight down the tunnel, before the players, and likely gave the lads both barrels. I’m not sure Poch has that same fiery side to him, I could be wrong, but maybe I’d suggest that.

Do you think Spurs did the right thing investing in facilities, opposed to the squad?

Yes. It’s easy to splash the cash on shiny players, but it doesn’t always go the way you’d expect it, just take a look at Manchester United. On the other hand, it can go brilliantly – just look at Man City. But laying the foundations for the club’s future is vital.

Dejan Lovren recently talked up Klopp’s influence on the squad by things that were done off the pitch, and he was spot on.

One example is the famous ‘This is Anfield’ sign at our stadium – Klopp told the players they couldn’t touch it until they’d won a trophy for the fans.

Simply put, it’s a bit of painted metal but the symbolism clearly had an impact on the lads. I think investing in facilities will help Poch succeed in the long-term.
