The summer window at Tottenham could well be more an event than most of us thought this time a week ago, with the news that Tanguy Ndombele is out for the rest of the season, it is surely improbable that the Frenchman will remain at Tottenham in the long term. One doesn’t break club transfer records to secure a top talent, pay him £200,000 a week and then spend the following months trying to coax the odd game out of him.
One player who is not ‘troubled’ or ‘injured’ is Kyle Walker -Peters, and another is Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, both these boys are looking for certainty over their futures and Daniel Levy may well be the man to offer it. According to Duncan Wright for The Sun, a £10million move for KWP from North London to the south coast side is now thought to be imminent.
Ralph Hassenhutl is likely to want paying in full for Højbjerg, who was recently stripped of his captaincy, after refusing to commit his future to the Saints, so a £10million boost from the KWP move would be good timing.
Well if you value Walker – Peters at £10 million, £25 million for Hojbjerg seems to me a very fair price for an experienced Premier League player who is still young and with room to get better and is an International. If Levy wants to beat the price down go ahead but there’s a good chance that Everton who have loads of money and a big hole in their midfield say here’s thirty five or forty million cash on the barrel head not spread over five years.
Marcus Edwards, Carter – Vickers, Jack Clark. Milos Velkjovic.
But back on topic no way will he offer £25 + KWP
Yeah what happened to that young player we signed after Dele he was supposed to be the next big thing I cant even remember his name.
During that brief period when Dele, Sonny and even Wanyama came in, it looked like we were spending more cleverly than usual.
I would be more impressed if we spent cleverly than big. You don’t have to break the bank, look at Andy Robertson at Liverpool, Kante, Moutinho at Wolves, Digne at Everton. Those take a good scouting network, hard work and judgement. It’s a tough area to get right but for a club with little money to spend we can’t afford to get it wrong. For every Son and Dele there seem to be two three duds.
Since when did Levy ever “spend big”. If he does show some ambition it’s purely because he is shocked by our position in the table following his years of underinvestment.
