Latest update – There will be no new manager at Tottenham before the end of the season

By Bruce Grove -

News is breaking that Ryan Mason will remain in charge of Tottenham until the end of the season.

This clearly means that the sacking of Jose Mourinho was not pre-planned with a replacement lined up.

It also means that the club is probably not that confident of landing the likes of Julian Nagelsmann who is likely to end up at Bayern Munich.

There is also this rotten Super League to contend with simply because no one has an idea what competitions Spurs will be in next season. What right-minded manager will take a job with a club that could possibly be thrown out of the Premier League.

It may also be the case that Daniel Levy has his eye on one or two potential managers but they cannot come before the end of the season.

That would then possibly rule out the likes of Max Allegri and even Maurizio Sarri.

That said, it could be anything and the only thing we know as a matter of fact is that Ryan Mason will lead the team out against Man City in the Carabao Cup at the weekend.

As posted recently, that was the performance that finally lost me from being a Jose defender (not that he had many defenders, lol) so I’m with Daniel in that respect.

Should have made Dele boy stand-in manager, he spends most of his time in the dugout these days.

Same article said Levy was claiming he was railroaded into appointing Mourinho! By whom exactly?
As ever no accountability to anyone, every managerial failure and in particular no explanation for the stadium debacle both in over spend and delay the man is shameless.

Didnt it say somewhere that Levy hardly saw any of the game but was texting away like a mad man during it.

If the Super League goes ahead Ryan Mason may keep the job. With no possibility of relegation and guaranteed income of hundreds of millions of pounds each season for at least the next 23 years irrespective of what happens on the pitch, why bother spending money on a top manager or top players? ENIC could clear the stadium debt in 4 years and the rest is then all gravy.

I’m grand with Mason in charge for the remainder. Set the team and formation. Let the players get on with it.

This seems to me like its gonna be like when Tim took charge for a bit.

I cant imagine Ryan has more experience than Ledders does.

Or did Ledley turn down the opportunity to take over?

Can Ryan do anything but fail in this position?
I’m guessing he’ll have a lot less respect than Lamps did before he went rouge trying to tell Rudiger he knew more about defending than he does.

Lamps made a mistake taking that role too early & I think this will hurt Ryan, I hope he knows what hes doing.

Ledley made the right choice if he turned it down.
Ryan should have too.

Expose Levy for this stupid decision, Levy doesnt want to win a trophy, he only wants Top4, neither of which it looks like we will get, so what is Levy really up to?
Sabotage, when we were so close to [a chance] of a trophy?
Wasting 20m in a pay off?

I hope & pray Ryan isn’t o the end of a 9-2 in the final.

Really. Rotten super league. Anything that puts a rocket up the rear of uefa and fifa gets my vote. They invented greed and corruption. As for the manager it makes sense at the moment until the smoke clears a little.
