Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris suffered an injury against Newcastle which may keep him out for the rest of the season.
That’s according to the Evening Standard who claim that the Frenchman is ‘unlikely’ to feature again this season and could have played his final game for the club.
Lloris, who has had a disappointing season with a number of errors leading directly to goals, was taken off at halftime during Spurs’ 6-1 defeat by Newcastle after suffering a thigh injury.
This is second injury he has suffered this year. Earlier in February he picked up a knee injury against Manchester City which had him ruled out of action for a month and a half.
Spurs are reportedly looking for long-term replacements for the veteran goalkeeper who is no longer the player he used to be, as they aim to improve their defence for the upcoming seasons.
The French international goalkeeper has been a loyal servant for Tottenham over the years, spending 11 years at the club since his move from Lyon.
However, his recent performances have raised questions about his future at the club, with him making a number of mistakes this season leading directly to goals.
Lloris has a year remaining on his contract at Tottenham, but Spurs are expected to be in the market for a new No1 goalkeeper this summer. They have been linked with the number of players in recent months, including Leeds United’s Illan Meslier, Everton’s Jordan Pickford and Brentford’s David Raya.
Tottenham are reportedly also pushing hard to complete the signing of James Maddison from Leicester City as well as Harvey Barnes in a stunning £110m double deal.
