Latest report claims Spurs are set to hold talks with managerial target “as early as this week”

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to the latest report from The Telegraph, Tottenham are “planning to make contact” with Luis Enrique as they “step up” their efforts to find a suitable replacement for Antonio Conte.

Luis Enrique has been one of the names that has been heavily linked with the club since a few weeks. Their former club director Fabio Paratici was reportedly keen on bringing him in.

Fabrizio Romano also recently reported that he remains a “frontrunner” for the job alongside Julian Nagelsmann.

Chelsea are in the same boat as Spurs having sacked Graham Potter and currently on the hunt for a top-class replacement for him. Both Nagelsmann and Enrique are said to be main targets for the London rivals as well.

The report from Telegraph claims that the former Barcelona manager has already been interviewed by Chelsea and that Spurs are now planning to have talks with him “as early as this week”.

However, the report states that this does not mean that he will be offered a job or that he is a top target.

Enrique has been open about wanting to manage in the Premier League next and it looks like his next destination is going to be one of the London clubs.

He has won nine trophies with the La Liga giants, including the Champions League. He has previously been described as “one of the best managers” by Pep Guardiola

Previously Spanish outlet Sport has claimed that Tottenham and Chelsea stand out as the “most likely destination” for the Spaniard.
