According to 90min, Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur have been offered the opportunity to sign former Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny.
Tottenham are in hunt for a long-term successor for their veteran keeper Hugo Lloris who has come under much criticism after a recent dip in form. The report states that ‘a number of Premier League’ keepers are being watched by Spurs.
The report also claims that Tottenham have already been ‘offered a couple of eye-catching names’ including former Gunner Wojciech Szczesny.
The Juventus keeper was linked with a move to Spurs last week by the Italian media with the report claiming that Spurs are ‘very interested’ in signing him. And now, according to 90min sources, he indeed has been offered to the North London club ‘by intermediaries’.
The report further states that Spurs are not actively looking to sign the keeper nor are Juventus desperate to sell him but the Lillywhites have not completely ruled out the possibility.
Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy, who has lost his place to Kepa this season, is among the other keepers mentioned in the report who have been offered to Spurs.
Lloris is in his 11th season at Tottenham, and while he has put in some excellent performances recently, age seems to be catching up with him. During his time at Spurs, he has made 437 appearances in all competitions, keeping 148 clean-sheets.
It is highly unlikely that Szczesny would want to sign for Spurs considering his strong connection with Arsenal. It is also very unlikely that Spurs will consider signing the 32-year-old as a long-term replacement for the 35-year-old Lloris.
