Kyle Walker-Peters Part Exchange Hopes Crumble: Spurs & Saints Remain £15M Apart In Valuation

By Joe Fish -

Southampton are not interested in pursuing a permanent deal for Tottenham full-back Kyle Walker-Peters, according to The Times.

The 23-year-old joined the Saints on loan in January, starting one game and sitting out three others before the Premier League season was halted.

The Telegraph reported on May 30 that Spurs were happy for Walker-Peters to remain on loan at St Mary’s until the completion of the 2019-20 season. The original agreement over the defender expires on June 30th.

But it does not appear as though KWP will be staying with the Saints any longer than that, and there’s been no extension announced either. So KWP could be back at Spurs on July 1. And worse news still, this takes one option off the table in negotiating a deal for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

A Times report today reckons the clubs are £15m apart in their valuations of the midfielder, and without the prospect of using KWP as a makeweight we are going to have to dig a little deeper, which may not be possible considering the club’s financial position.
