Kane to ask to be made highest Premier League earner at £400,000-a-week after agreeing to remain at Tottenham

By Bruce Grove -

Harry Kane is set to ask Tottenham to make him the highest-paid player in the Premier League on £400,000-a-week after failing to join Manchester City.

The striker was keen to leave Tottenham in this transfer window as he looks to start winning team trophies.

He had told Spurs he wanted to leave at the end of last season and that allowed City to bid for him.

Spurs turned down their offer and valued him at around £150m, a fee that City could afford to pay if they really wanted to.

However, Spurs stance was clear that they would do everything to keep Kane and they also clarified that to the player himself.

He returned late for preseason and missed the first two competitive games.

But he took to Twitter this week to confirm that he would stay at the club, handing them a boost in their bid to break into the top four again.

Now the striker wants his wages to reflect what Tottenham values him with The Times claiming he will ask for a new deal worth £400k per week.

This would make him the highest earner in the Premier League and take him above Kevin de Bruyne, who makes £385,000-a-week.

Kane would have made £500,000-a-week if he had moved to City and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham will agrees to his demands.

Kane is having to make light a very difficult situation for him.He has boxed himself into a corner, not helped by his totally inexperienced team of ‘advisors”They were always going to be no match for Levy and so it has proved.

Whatever anybody’s opinions are on these super agents,I doubt we would have ended up in this situation if one of them had led Kane”s demands to leave.

I fear Kane will just have to suck this one up.He’s not doubling his money overnight.

Kane has nowhere to go on this, Levy will laugh him out of the office.

I’m not buying this. Might be naive but I was under the impression that Kane isn’t ‘motivated’ by money so can’t see him making these increased demands, particularly under the circumstances…

Why would Levy agree to this? City failed to offer the required value. He still has three years to run on his existing contract. To pay Kane that amount will create a lot of resentment in the camp as he wanted to leave and I suspect it will have a negative impact on Son who has just signed a new deal and wants to be at the club. Plus who knows if Kane will really have his heart in playing for the club this season and he could well end up with yet another injury and be out for a period of time. I very much doubt there are legs in this article.
