Jermaine Jenas has insisted that he will only judge Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho after he’s had a transfer window to stamp his mark on the squad.
Mourinho was appointed as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor in November, but while the season is currently on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak, Spurs have already crashed out of the FA Cup and Champions League.
Further, they find themselves off the pace in the battle for Champions League qualification for next season as they look to salvage something from the campaign.
Jenas has been critical of Mourinho in terms of his negativity in the media, particularly over their recent injury troubles, but he has insisted that he will reserve judgment until the summer as he believes the players are also responsible for the poor form.
“It’s not a rant but what I will say is I will reserve judgment on Jose until the summer, until he brings in his new players because I think the players haven’t been good enough,” he said on MOTDx, as quoted by the Express.
“What I don’t like about Jose at the minute is the negativity. I think he’s been far too negative in terms of the message he’s been sending out with the players.
“I know we’ve got injuries to Kane, I know Son’s injured and now [Steven] Bergwijn. But I think there needs to be a more positive structure going out to the players.
“And overall I still can’t see what the team are and how they’re trying to play.”
It remains to be seen when the Premier League resumes, but Tottenham and Mourinho will hope to end the season well and strengthen where possible in the summer.
As per BBC Sport, Mourinho himself has conceded the need for a more balanced squad next year, especially in light of the injury troubles that they’ve suffered within recent weeks with Moussa Sissoko, Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Steven Bergwijn all sidelined.
I did! I have had a problem from day 1. You can read my history on that.
Would you honestly pay £60 a week to watch paint dry? Good on you…I won’t.
People should remember he’s very bias towards us and if he says something like that it’s because he cares. I’d suggest if Dan cared half as much we wouldn’t be in this shot
Jermaine is a spurs fan he often describes us as ‘we’ … Always liked this guy. Hardly a journeyman he only played for 5 clubs which is standard.. John burridge or leicesters old Trevor Benjamin were journeymen.. 29 clubs is astonishing.
The football under Jose has been turgid, it always was but he had too players that fitted his approach to make it look bearable. Trying this with Levy spending levels results in defensive unwatchable €rap.
He’s a has-been…
We were 12th when he took over, we have been as close as a point or two off 4th. I don’t recall anyone having a problem during those first few matches, but cocking it up at crucial moments and 6 without a win is tough to swallow. Problems with the squad have been well documented on this site for long before he took over so it’s hardly a surprise that we look bang average without 4 or 5 first teamers. And yes, I personally would endure a couple of years of defensive football if there was a pot at the end of it. I think its hugely unfair to stick the knife in just yet.
We once had Class . Now THFC is just a money making Circus .
Yes. I always ask Jose fans, would you want to watch this for 2yrs and win an FA cup, or watch a Poch or redknapp spurs and win nothing. For me I watch to be entertained, if it was purely about trophies and dull football may as well just check back in each may.
As it is we are winning nothing (worse non win streak I can remember) and playing worst football I have ever seen us play. Even George Graham had a better style.
I just read that and if he thinks that’s a great way to stsrt a documentary series that’s gonna have about 30k viewers, ie the planks that still fall for all this, he is way way off the mark. That’s low even by his standards. And also begs the question, is that why he wanted Jose in? Arguably biggest name in management, great drama as one hero departs??? The toy thinks he’s a great business man, he’s been told by some dummies, thinks he’s a great chairman, same applies, now he thinks he’s Steven fackin Spielberg!!!!!! I really really despise that rat
I would go further and say that in the context of the present day, Jose is just a $hit manager who’s being massively overpaid because of what he did quite a long time ago…
I thought it couldnt get worse but it does .
utter scumbags ,disgusted quite frankly.

I wish you guys would pack in the serial winner, he has not been that for years without out spending all other teams in competition. His football is dour and dull.
