Journalist shares why Tottenham can still sell forward Steven Bergwijn

Over the past few days, Tottenham Hotspur forward Steven Bergwijn has been the subject of various rumors connecting him to a possible move back to the Netherlands to join Ajax.

However, the north London club has reportedly turned an offer from the Dutch giants down. Manager Antonio Conte also spoke highly of the player, so some might believe that Tottenham might hold onto Bergwijn.

Despite the remarks made by the Italian tactician, talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook reckons that Bergwijn could still leave Tottenham this month.

“There’s a focus on shifting players, and despite what Conte said, I think if Ajax pay decent money for Steven Bergwijn, that one could happen,” Crook said to Givemesport

Tottenham reportedly rejected Ajax’s £15-million for his services, although Spurs rejected the bid in the hope that they’ll get closer to the £27-million that they paid PSV two years ago.

Bergwijn has scored one goal and registered two assists in 13 appearances for the Premier League club this season. These numbers might not entice Ajax to present a better offer unless they believe they can get the most out of Bergwijn in their system.

Is the RWB solution staring Conte in the face? I think Bergwijn coukd do a job. Infinitely better delivery than Emerson and he has the pace to take a man on. Defensively I thought he did OK operating as an auxiliary RB in Mourinho’s low block. I would rather see him tried than us shell out £20mill on Traore. That money is better spent elsewhere

Agreed, the day he signed a £200k a week contract (£10.4m a year) he’s laughed every day and ate like a King. I hope he gets gout and loses a leg!

In fairness, Tanguy can afford to pay the prison premium. Wage thief.

What a shocker. We await Levy-time with baited breath. Like Fergie-time if the last few minutes meant a succession of own goals knocking them out of contention. Who will be the next Sissoko or NBelly?

It’s like a Prison. Canteen ladies smuggling it in for a little pension supplement. There’s more sauce available now than when it was allowed!

With Conte banning ketchup and mayo, these two must be climbing the walls to get out.

Agreed. Other than the cursory Talk Sport phone in, that picks a club and asks if they are well run to get fans phoning in I never read anything. I am no expert but I could have spent £1bn on a £500m stadium. I would only have taken £3m as a bonus too!

If we got rid Bergwijn and Ndombele would lower our Catering bill by millions! Are there any fatter and less fit EPL players than these 2?

Traore is like Walcott, a failed sprinter who is not that good at football. He would frustrate the hell out of us, but his pace is dangerous. It is a skill you cannot coach and as long as he isn’t our main man he would be a worthy add on, such as coming off the bench to terrorise a full back.

Compared to the media assault on the shortcomings of Woodward at Manure, for example, how does Levy get a pretty easy ride from the press? It’s a joke how poorly he runs every part of the football operation. With hindsight, I wonder how many of our supporters would be shedding tears at the destruction of the Lane as my dad and I did? Never agreed with that but couldn’t have believed just how terrible ENIC would be. RIP THFC as I can’t see these greedy sods ever leaving. Just buying up the local property and increasing their own already enormous wealth. Couldn’t be more shining an example of unfit ownership in the league. The only thing we are world class at is getting in debt.

We’ll sign a 19 yr old from the French league by the name of Runny N’Donkey on the last day of the month and then loan him back.

Good goal but the open goal where he blasted over that was poor.

More than half way through the window and guess what nothing, rien, niente. Usual non approach to doing footballing business. Beyond being tired of this nonsense. We might end up with some 19 year old prospect around 29th-30th.We will be unable to shift any dross-who wants the likes of Doherty or Dele anyway? Meanwhile Arsenal will edge ahead along with Newcastle, Villa, Wolves and West Ham.. Recruitment has been diabolical for too long. not just who but when. Integrating players brought in late just presents managers with more problems and we are possibly reaching a tipping point with Conte and problems. Levy is nothing but a brick minded spin master operating behind a thinly transparent veil of football interest. He knows no shame.

Perhaps Conte feels he can use his pace and strength as a rwb.Can he pass or cross a ball though? This transfer window has all the markings of ENIC and Levy all over it. Just what has changed exactly since Paratici arrived?

Another underwhelming performance from Traore yesterday from what I saw.I really don’t see what he would give us,we have enough players who fluff their chances.Maybe it’s just me.
