Journalist confirms Premier League club manager ‘wants’ Tottenham midfielder – the two clubs “are in talks”

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is reportedly being linked with a summer transfer move to Aston Villa.

The Argentine was deemed surplus to requirements by Spurs manager Antonio Conte and spent last season on loan at Villareal, where he played a key role in their Champions League campaign.

Despite attracting interest from several clubs during the summer transfer window, Lo Celso’s high asking price deterred suitors.

However, with the midfielder set to return to Spurs in the summer, it is widely believed that he does not have a future at the club and will once again be put on the transfer list.

Lo Celso’s former coach, Unai Emery, who is now at Aston Villa, is said to be interested in reuniting with the midfielder.

According to Argentinian journalist Gaston Edul, Villa “are in talks” with the player and the manager “wants him”. Edul further suggested that Villa “could make an offer” for the midfielder.

The 25-year-old joined Spurs in 2020 from Real Betis and has since made 84 appearances for the club, scoring 8 goals and providing 6 assists.

According to a previous report form Football Insider, ‘an offer of around £18million could be accepted’ by Daniel Levy which will be half of what they signed him for (£55.3m).

A move to Villa could provide Lo Celso with an opportunity to revive his career in England under Emery’s guidance, having already impressed the Spanish coach during his time at Villareal. It remains to be seen whether the move will materialize, but Lo Celso’s future at Tottenham looks uncertain at best.
