Jose sets sights on snapping up Chelsea duo

By Ron Carne -

Tottenham are reportedly looking at a double swoop on Chelsea with Olivier Giroud and Willian set to see their contracts expire this summer.

Injuries to Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Steven Bergwijn prior to the suspension of fixtures left Jose Mourinho light on options as Spurs looked to compete on multiple fronts.

Keeping them fit next season will be the priority, but adding more quality depth could also be on the agenda this summer.

According to TeamTalk, it’s suggested that both Giroud and Willian are on Tottenham’s transfer radar, with the former said to potentially receive a two-year deal with an option for a third.

No such specifics are offered on what Spurs are willing to put on the table for Willian, but it’s added that the Brazilian stalwart is looking for a three-year deal from Chelsea currently.

As the pair continue to edge closer to becoming free agents, coupled with the possibility that the coronavirus crisis could have a negative impact on spending in football in the next transfer window due to its effect on the global economy, a double free transfer swoop could be on the cards at Tottenham.

Giroud, 33, has three goals in 13 games so far this season, while Willian, 31, has bagged seven goals and six assists in 37 appearances with both veterans playing an important role for Frank Lampard this year.
