Jose Mourinho tipped to win trophies at Tottenham by superstar that knows him well

By Bruce Grove -

Luka Modric has tipped Jose Mourinho to bring Tottenham’s long wait for a trophy to an end because the Portuguese manager wins a trophy wherever he goes.

Spurs appointed the former Chelsea boss as their manager late last year after they made a poor start to the season.

He came in when the team’s spirit was low and they were close to being in a relegation scrap.

Despite suffering an injury crisis that saw them lose the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, Mourinho still managed to help them finish the season 6th on the league table to earn a return to Europe.

Modric was lured to Real Madrid by the tactician in 2013 and he has nothing but praise for the manager and he strongly believes that he will bring the Lilywhites’ wait for a trophy to an end.

He related how the manager even won trophies at Manchester United despite having a turbulent time at Old Trafford.

Asked if Mourinho is capable of ushering in a new era of success at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Modric told The Times: “Yes, definitely.

“I have a special affection for him, for everything he meant for me. Tottenham did a great thing to appoint him as a manager because he is a proven winner.

“In Italy, England and Spain he won things and he knows how to win. I am hoping he manages to do the same thing with Spurs.

“It’s a great thing for Tottenham to be able to bring in someone like him.

“He wins everywhere. Even when people say, ‘Ah, he didn’t win in Manchester [United]’. He won the Europa League and other cups [League Cup in the 2016-17 season] because of his quality.

“He knows how to transport his energy to the players. If I had to say one thing [that he does differently to other managers] it is how he prepares for games.

“It’s something unbelievable, he gives you everything you need to know about the teams, where to make damage and exploit them.”

I fear it becoming a millstone round his neck.
If anyone can win a pot it would be him but it is still a big ask.

I think Luka has it spot on here. Or perhaps I hope he does.
What ‘All Or Nothing’ has done is show us what the man José is like in reality, opposed to the scowling stern unapproachable figure we imagine from the pre and post-match interviews that we get to see.
Up until Amazon aired, I imagined a c**t that would lose the dressing room immediately.
What I’ve seen in reality is nothing like that.
I’m glad.
I am sad that the show practically airbrushed Poch out of almost half a season. I think that was wrong. I know Boy Hotspur is happy about that, but I disagree, and I’m not getting into that debate right now.
But regardless, José is the gaffer now and I have to believe in him.
I believe he will win us silverware of some description. I believe. I have to believe. I am Tottenham. We will overcome. COYS

Why does the first third of this article read like it’s not written for a Spurs blog? It’s as though it’s aimed at footy fans who probably don’t know much detail about what happened at our club less than a year ago. looks a bit tabloid cut & pasty to me.

First I go out of my way to avoid looking at the back pages of the rags which are scattered around my local coffee shop so I can feel all superior an everyfing, only to come home to this.

It’s an outrage!
