Jose Mourinho has been left impressed by the attitude and professionalism of Dele Alli since he has been out of the Tottenham team and the Portuguese manager is considering playing him in Tottenham’s next game against Maccabi Haifa.
Spurs take on the Israeli side in the Europa League playoff on Thursday as they look to enter the group stage of the competition.
Alli has been dropped in most of Tottenham’s games this season as he continues to struggle to impress Mourinho.
He was expected to be part of the heavily-rotated Tottenham team that beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup last night, but he wasn’t named in the side.
Despite being snubbed for most games this season, Alli has been very professional in his approach to the problem and the England midfielder has impressed Mourinho.
The manager admitted that the attacker’s professionalism has earned his respect and that of his teammates and it might earn him a return to the starting XI soon.
He said as quoted by the Mail Online: ‘I cannot confirm Dele’s playing tomorrow but I cannot confirm he’s not playing. We have still training sessions today, we have still decisions to make.
‘The only thing I can say is he’s being very, very professional. I have only respect for him. He’s being very professional, particularly yesterday when the team was preparing for the game and he wasn’t.
‘It would be perfectly acceptable to have a lack of motivation, even a lack of professionalism for this training session, but it was exactly the opposite.
‘He trained very hard yesterday. He has my respect and the respect of his team-mates so it’s possible he plays tomorrow.’
If Jose and Levy really wanted Dele out and a handsome fee for a player on a contract until 2024, then allowing Amazon to edit the TV to highlight Dele as “f*cking lazy guy in training” isn’t really the best way to go about it!! 😂
