Jose Mourinho now into single digits with some bookies to be next manager to leave

By Bruce Grove -

Well, it had to happen, didn’t it?

The overreaction to last nights poor performance against Brighton has heaped the pressure on the Special One and not just from some of the fans and pundits but also from the bookies.

As things stand right now, Jose Mourinho is as low as 6/1 to be the next manager to leave. To put that into some context, he is third-favourite to be jettisoned behind Steve Bruce and Nuno Espirito Santo.

Now, in all fairness, that is with just one bookie, some have him as high as 10/1 and sixth in the betting to be next to leave but even so, those odds are terrible.

Just recently he was a cool 66/1 to be next manager to depart and when I say recently, I actually mean the 25th January, so less than a week ago, that is some collapse in his price.

So, a defeat to Liverpool and Brighton and bang, from 66/1 to 6/1.

Obviously, the weight of money dictates the price at a bookies and so it would appear that someone, somewhere, has been putting down a fair few quid on the Portuguese to be flung out on his ear by Daniel Levy.

All I will say on this is that you should save your money and not jump on the bandwagon, it is very unlikely that Levy will pull the trigger with the club still very much in the race for a top-four finish, a Carabao Cup final to play and sitting pretty in the FA Cup and Europa League.

Under Saints and Spurs Botchy spent just shy of half a billion pounds… 492,000,000… Stambouli and Fazio was his.. Kev Wimmer, Vincent Jansen, his record signing at Saints was that swedish guy who was rubbish and caused chaos…. In a time when Leicester won the league and birmingham, Portsmouth and stoke won cups,, Botch won nothing. You can cherry pick decent players he signed of course. But you get a bigger basket of cherries picking out the rotten and rubbish ones.

No Fazio and Stambouli were Botch deals along with Yedlin Vorm and Davies 2014.. Man you chat some serious gibberish… You are the one who never stops going on about him, clearly I address you. Just like I was addressing this guy. Miracle workers win stuff.. Of course you know my view because I’ve had to repeat to you… World class coach, but poor manager is the short explanation.. You’re not worth me going into the long explanation..

Fazio and Stambouli were deals that were set up before he came in. He never played Stambouli so I’m not sure why you think he’s one of his. You’ll be telling me others from France he never played like Clinton Cards and Cludo were his picks too. I know your position on our former manager because you never stop going on about him.

Our problems are at the top, any manager we get is generally hamstrung by Levy’s micromanaging. Regardless of if you like said manager or you do not…

He might walk if he realises the squad won’t be improved. He probably doesn’t need the money and it reflects badly on him if we implode.

Levy can deflect as usual in these situations. “I brought in Jose, Bale and some other decent signings, what more do you want?”

Levy’s in-tray is empty as far has he’s concerned. As far as Jose’s job is concerned, safe for now.

There’s no way he’s going during this season, unless things really seriously implode.

Paul Mitchell tried that one on and was shown the door with a gagging order…

He’s been Levy’s wet dream for far too long to get sacked yet, after all, win our game in hand and we’re 5th, plus in a final, plus still in 2 other comps.

Let’s see what happens while Kane is out and we experience out traditional spring collapse – but unless he goes full meltdown and losses the dressing room he’s here to stay.

He wasn’t backed for one and a half years out of seven! I haven’t cherry picked anything. Yes Son and Toby and Trips were good signings but they were back in 2016 under Mitchell.. Add up the litter like Fazio, Stambouli , cards, no cluedo, yedlin etc because you just cherry picked right there.

He won’t be going anywhere just yet. The first half of the season suggested the Jose train was being pushed to the max, even now others inability to win matches mean he’s still not out of the mix. The Chelsea match will show what’s what. The Prem need Jose in the mix….and Kane on the pitch.

Easty presumably that’s Levy’s minimum target?!
However agreeing with HKIOH below I’d be happy simply winning the League Cup!

League Cup and I’d be happy finishing outside the top 6. Still qualify for the Europa Conference League and that’s a competition that these clowns might have a chance at competing in.

He also was behind signing Son. You will always get positives and negatives with every manager’s time. Cherry picking it always convenient to backup an argument. Oh, and by the way, like Jose, he wasn’t backed properly. No, he actually wasn’t.

I think Levy will be expecting top 4 DD, rightly or wrongly…

True but can you see us finishing in the top 4 and winning a trophy this season?

Levy needs to step away from transfer deals and just sign the cheques.
Get in a proper scout[s],guys who know the game and what to look for in a player and have them work closely with JM to get the best in to play to the system he wants.
Sorry the phone just went and woke me up.

Alot of truth there but Botch was a failure in my eyes. In 5 years he bought in 27 players, he released 40 odd.. He was backed for longer than most managers… He inherited the likes of Kane, Lloris, Dembele, Walker, Rose etc .. He should have won something. Far too many silly decisions and poor managementdoomed him to win nothing.

Top 6 teams go through these periods throughout seasons, in particular with injuries like the ones we’ve had to Kane and Reguilon. Look at Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea very hit and miss at times. Got to give him more time, at least until the end of next season. There’s not really anyone else to come in and sort these useless players out otherwise.

James, why the surprise? because it’s the SPURSY WAY continually lulling us fans into delusions of grandeur only to collapse like a pack of cards every time!!

Our woes will never end whilst the diminutive time waster and scrooge impersonator, and his merry band from ENIC, are in charge of the purse strings. No manager will be able to succeed under that onerous stranglehold.
It’s all very well putting up fancy stadia and training facilities, but at the end of the day those flashy structures don’t win games do they?
Some of us have been saying it for years – we’ll never win the title under Levy, our squad is nowhere near strong enough in depth, and every season we start to struggle in the second half of the campaign. Poch produced miracles with virtually nothing and very little support from the board. How many more managers have to come and go before the dwindling number of intellectually challenged Spurs fans realise the real problem here?
I see no light at the end of the tunnel unless those parasites sell us on to owners that actually have some ambition ON the pitch and not off it.
History does repeat itself it seems.

Not a fan of the manager merry go round. Football has been mostly dross. Don’t see our fortunes changing. Down in a ball of flames we go.

Eddie’s shout to get rid of Hitchens would be most welcome.

It’s really remarkable how a team can go in the space of a few months from dismantling Man United to abject surrender against Brighton.

In fairness,as somebody pointed out earlier,it would be cheaper to bladder Levy.He could take Hitchens with him.
