Jose Mourinho looking to hijack Chelsea’s move for top Premier League talent

By Bruce Grove -

Jose Mourinho is plotting a summer move for Manchester United goalkeeper, Dean Henderson, according to Mundo Deportivo via Express Sports.

The Englishman has been on loan at Sheffield United this season, and he has been one of the best goalies in the Premier League.

His fine form for the Blades has brought about talks of him returning to Old Trafford and becoming the number one there.

The Blades also want him back as their goalie next season, but Chelsea is interested in signing him permanently.

The Blues have lost patience with the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Frank Lampard is on the lookout for a new keeper.

The former midfielder believes that Henderson can become the number one at Stamford Bridge and he is looking to sign the 23-year-old.

Mourinho is apparently looking to hijack the Blues’ move as he looks for cover for Hugo Lloris.

Lloris is one of the best in the Premier League, but the report claims that the Portuguese manager wants to give him some competition and Henderson has been identified as a goalie that can bring that competition.

It remains unclear what Manchester United’s plans for Henderson are, but he will not want to play second fiddle to David de Gea next season, which also brings into question any potential move to the Tottenham Stadium.

Grealish was only showing potential back then in 2014/15 & 2015/16 1 goal & 1 assist in his first two seasons,he was were Brooks and Cantwell are now a good player in a relegated side,no big teams were after him either. The reason the other top sides are not interested is they don’t need either player or can afford to spend large.

Frank was playing in a team under Jose that were winning titles assembled at all costs. Winks doesn’t play the same role/position in a team of less quality. Not a good comparison.Winks is a squad player who is probably carrying out his managers instructions.

I agree with you – Winks is only good enough for the squad, not first team. But he’s still worth keeping as a squad player. He’s also English with helps our homegrown contingent.

Grealish was widely accepted to be the real deal back than by most people, yes he had a attitude problem but he really stood out, Brooks doesn’t. Sorry incomparable players. Who else is in for him? Ask yourself how much is Grealish worth now?
I’ve watched Bournemouth play quite a lot and he’s not good enough to really improve us, even when fit as he also has injury problems. Jose wants players that will improve Spurs in his tenure, not cheap punts for the future. No more Sessegnons or Clarke’s please.
What we obviously need is to recruit players to cover our weaknesses – DM, striker, RB and LB. We don’t need another AM right now, and this is about the now not the future. Jose won’t be here forever.

IMO Winks is not good enough. If Frank Lampard is the yardstick (chipping in with 20 goals for Chelsea) then Winks needs to up his game big time!

I’d take both of those now. Not bargain basement players at all. Both have PL experience and can slot in straight away. Both can run all day and will improve and develop before our eyes.

Dele I agree is worth keeping. Winks only as a squad player at best, we need somebody of much higher quality to do that role if we want to move up.
I’ve watched him like a hawk lately, he does the odd good thing, but most of the time just slows everything down whilst he has a good look around, then passes sideways or back. He’s a tempo destroyer. On the rare occasion he tries a forward pass it often is intercepted. He doesn’t have passing accuracy unless his team mate is unmarked. He’s also a bit lightweight for me. He should have shone against teams like Palace, Bournemouth etc. he didn’t, he was pretty average.

Winks slows play down before eventually deciding on a sideways or backwards pass. He actually gives the defence time to sort out where Sonny and Kane are and mark them. He is not a top6 PL player imo.
Alli basically tries to bulldoze his way through the defence, 9 times out of 10 he fails and the opposition come away with the ball. He seems to have lost confidence in his own ability. If he can get back to his old form he is worth keeping. Winks no.

Ok, so this is my take on what makes both of these players valuable to us:

Dele scores goals and makes assists. If you regard last season as poor – which is was by his standards – he still scored 8 and made 4 assists – 12 goal contributions. That’s worth having.

Winks picks up the ball in tight spots and plays passes to his teammates freeing up space from them to play – he’s an effective player when you need to beat the press. He also gives a lot to team play pressing and making interceptions. he has good control and rarely loses the ball unneccessarily.

You don’t want us to sign Brooks now but were happy to sign Grealish when he showed potential,we don’t have a crystal ball to know for sure who will definitely make it.Some people at the time said we dodged a bullit with Jack on the front pages of the papers more than on the back.AVilla were skint at the time and wanted £25m (fanciful) probably worth £15m.Levy knew he would be taking a gamble on him and offered £6m & Onomah£5m total £11m. A week later Villa were bought over and the rest is History. If Jack had gone off the rails, like out crashing cars in the early hours of the morning and took his eye of the ball with off his off the field antics you might today be accusing Levy of buying more rubbish, who knows.

Yep, we have many holes to address and an owner who doesn’t like splashing the cash, unless its an N’Whatever type player.

Ben Davies ain’t that much better either and yet unless I am mistaken regarded by Ashley Williams as Swanseas best player we bought him at the time on the strength of both his defensive and attacking abilities. Oddly enough when he has had to slot into this position IMO he is more commanding as an emergency centre half than playing full back!

TBF we’ve been closely connected with buying quality players in the past and bottled it, like Grealish and Dembele (when he was a young Fulham striker) for example, we could have had the pair for a measly £12m but discount Danny wanted even more off and was rightly told to F Off. Did Everton do anything as daft as that?
Don’t even start me on the Dybala and Fernandez cons last summer. Both top, top quality players (that Everton couldn’t go for because of their more lowly position at the time), that wanted to come to Spurs – the CL finalists, but discount Danny found a way to avoid buying both and instead went for a cheapskate loan deal for Lo Celso who is nowhere near their level and boy does it show.
Then there’s the £100m odd he’s blown on N’Dombele, Sessegnon and Clarke, when we were in desperate need of a RB and striker.
It’s like a comedy of errors but not funny. Levy is the Mr Bean of transfers.

True but when you have a forward line of Salah, Firmino and Mane plus a world class centre half, a world class keeper,
a creative midfield and 2 quality full backs everything fits into place!!

Completely agree, he can put in decent crosses, but only in a ratio of around 1:25, simply not good enough. I always feel that he’s a penalty waiting to happen and his marking and clearing in the penalty area is atrocious.

The next time I hear a commentator say Aurier gets into good attacking positions but let down by his final ball simply endorses what a bad transfer this was!

New owners who will invest heavily on players? There’s no guarrantee we’ll get another Abramovich type. We could just as easily get stuck with a Kroenke type instead.

If it has been pointed out many times Enic don’t care about winning anything but want CL money, then they will have to spend any Kane money back into the side to get back to eating at the top table. If they have a side who brings the rewards of playing in the CL(top four) they would also be competive enough to win a domestic cup if taken seriously.

Winks is a good squad player, not for the first team. Liverpool are making noises about tightening the purse strings too – you might be surprised. they dropped out of the Werner transfer for example.

Woolwich, you have to be kidding right? They’re in dire financial trouble. They we’re running at a loss before last season with a wage bill they can’t afford without CL. Now Covid has hit them harder than most as a high percentage of their income comes through their match day revenue. Lose the cup final and they will be in massive trouble.

Everton have spent £380m in the last 3 seasons and are as far away from winning anything as ourselves, their owner has backed them, but it doesn’t (guarantee ) you win anything.Just look how we spent the £91m Bale money for example.

Although do agree this is a non story.

So we put in a bid for all the money we have to spend – probably around £20m, and Villa reject it. What then?

DannyG

This is a nonsense rumour. There is absolutely ZERO chance of this happening.

Can I pose this question to the masses: You’re in charge of Tottenham transfers, you have let’s say £20m to spend plus whatever you make from player sales. Do you prioritise your weakest spots like defensive midfielder and striker, or do you sped all the money (and more besides) on an expensive goalkeeper to give competition to a keeper that is already doing a great job and proven one of the best in the league?

I don’t wish to crush dreams, but selling players isn’t an easy business, it’s not like Championship Manager where you just transfer list them and next minute they’re sold. Finding buyers for reject players and getting a half decent price is tricky. In the “Covid market”, finding buyers is very problematic simply because most teams will not have ANY MONEY AT ALL Unless they are very wealthy (Man Utd) or backed by an owner that is not running the club as a business (Chelsea, Man City, Everton, possibly Newcastle) they’re all waiting until they sell players before they buy. The continent is suffering terribly too – not even Barca or Madrid have any money. The overall effect will be a very slow moving window with little movement and much fewer big money transfers.

The other factor people seem to be forgetting when they suggest getting rid of players like Dele and Winks is the homegrown aspect. We’re only allowed 17 non english players in our squad. English players are effectively worth much more, so if you have one that does a half decent job, you’re best advised to keep them.

It should come down to if they are any good, maybe in a years time we will have the same people asking why Levy didn’t sign either of them when they were “bargain basement”prices, they could go on to be the next Maddison or Grealish who knows. These are the type of players who would be better value and low risk than scouting in France.

Kepa £170.000 per week 5 years left on his contact running till 2025.His transfer fee the most expensive for a keeper £71m .They are paying nearly £20m a year on him.His value has dropped to closer to £30m.I can’t see them bringing another keeper in till they find some mugs to take him off them at a huge loss.I can’t see Spurs bringing in a keeper this season either when it’s not a priority.

Evening HH and fellow comrades, I trust you are well when having emerged from

With little optimism of winning any silverware remember 1961 was the last time we won the league title and 2008 was the last occasion we won a trophy!!!

Contemplating no success under turgid style Jose, can I be so bold enough to nominate ex- Spurs midfielder Scotty Parker (playing alongside Modric under the sexy swagger Redschnapps era remember that??) as our next Spurs manager. Having earned his badges, softly spoken, eloquent with a steely determination are essential ingredients for the job!

Regarding the current side:
Keep Lloris, Kane, Son, Dier, Moura, Lo Celos, Dier and Sissoko
OUT
Aurier
Davies
Alli
Expensive flop Ndombelle
Lamela
